Thrift Store:

Picked up a Tandy 12 (Computerized Arcade) that came out in 1981 in Radio Shack stores.

I just visited a thrift store around the corner from where I work. To preface, this is the type of store that has had the same PS2 sports titles sitting on a shelf for over 2 years....all priced at 6.99 and higher. :o Nothing else seems to come though this place. None the less, there's not much else around so I check in from time to time.

To keep the story short, I found mint CIB copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii for 3.99 each!!! They were, of course, mixed in among some random kids DVD's and priced as such. This just reinforces why it's always prudent to check those DVD/CD bins. I already have these games but I couldn't pass them up at that price. Great trade bait I'm sure they'll make. :D

Good find for sure! I always spy those "White" DVD cases from far away, and I think, "It's either some Wii games, or Baby Einstein DVD's!"

9 times out of 10 they are kid's movies as you have mentioned. But it sounds like you got the luck of the draw on that one. Good score! Especially for the Smash Bros.

Really nice find. Story time:

I have a store just like that I check a few times a week since it's on the way home from work. About to give up on it even though I've had a couple small scores there. Just seems like I kept getting beat to the punch by someone (one NES cart but it's a Sesame Street game, meaning someone already raided the place for example).

Then just the other day I saw a guy messing around with electronics and another employee telling him "Thanks man, good lookin out" and slip a couple DVD sized items into his coat before they were put on sale. I caught a glimpse of one and it honestly didn't look like a game to me but I can't believe it wasn't. The guy with the electronics is the one who's always fiddling with anything that gets donated, including game systems. Why would the other guy be thanking him for letting him take something unless it was games? I doubt he just had to have a couple of DVDs that were laying back there, and plus they usually just throw DVDs right onto the shelf as far as I know. If someone donates a box with a console and some games however it takes them some time to sort through it all.

In short, I think I might be wasting my time at this place even though every few months it had previously paid off.

I wish goodwill was the same way....for some odd reason ps2(and the occasional ps1 though these are some mary kate and ashley game if it's a ps1 game at the exact location). The ps2's are always mixed in with the dvds(along with some xbox games). And the ps1's if they have any are with the cd's....go figure. Sadly though they are usually some fps or sports game I don't want...

This sounds super shady. Is he actually stealing donations from the place he works? If so, you need to say something to a manager. Get him outta there!

99% of the time, this is the case with every thrift store I visit. I just happened to find the other 1% this time. I certainly don't go in expecting it. It's just a really nice surprise when it does happen.

Yeah, but doesn't help when you go in and find some decent games but don't have money. Just nice to waste some time before school or work when somehow I manage to leave more than early enough to stop by just to look. What's worse is they try putting some random sports games(there's always one or two) in the case up front. Which makes no sense when you see the others lined up with the cd's and dvd's

I don't know if he's stealing them necessarily. He may be legit buying them at the end of his shift or something but either way I'm not getting a shot at them (assuming they are games).

Salvation Army 50% off family day got me these for a total of $3.80. they had a ton of xbox games but I left them since they were either sports or COD style games.

Ha that reminds me I took a "look" to see what a local salvation army had. Only decent game they had that wasn't a learning game or sims(which I probably would've picked up any other day). Was Elder Scrolls Oblivion. i'm going to kick myself for not getting it because it was 1.99....just want to see what this ES hype is all about
