@catnip

thank you! Favorite JRPGS is pretty difficult for me, especially since I take genres pretty loosely... I really enjoyed the Shin Megami Tensei games on PS2 (particularly Nocturne and the Digital Devil series) I've always found the Phantasy Star games rather underrated. I'm sure more will come that I can't remember!

@dunpeal2064
Pretty much anything Treasure releases is great in my book. No matter what crazy or weird shmups I hear about I always go back to Ikaruga.

Hi!

Just registered, new member, time to introduce! :D

About myself
I'm a quite young retro gamer(13) boy, living in Middle-Europe, Hungary. Collecting retro consoles, since when I was 7. It began when I met with Pokemon FireRed, and I was starting to like the game, I remember when my dad downloaded a Japanese version of the game, and I ran the game on VBA, ever since I love pixel-art and yeah Pokemon (I have almost one from every gen, except XY, DPP (well if a fake-Pearl doesn't count)). A bit later, I found about what exactly is gaming, and how it is done, and found Sonic (oh yeah Mario and everyone too, just you know Sonic was something bigger for me), which franchise is again, one of my favourites. So time passed, and I started collecting the consoles what I have right now. Because of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2, my first console was a Dreamcast (yeah, because my parents didn't allow any consoles, but collecting was a different thing), and I still have it on my shelf, and works damn fine, so later I bought more consoles, handheld and home too. later since my dad was a programmer, I was interested in that part of IT too and started learning languages, now I can program in Java (well basicly, not as a pro), so another thing that I learned, thanks to video games. Well, probably that for me, but
summa-summarum: I'm a young male retro game collector, can program in Java, love sonic, and also pretty good at Math (in my country, at several competitions I"m placed in the top 30), literature, and also foreign languages.

My current collection of video games consoles:
Sega Dreamcast: 2 controllers (one original, one non-genuine), bunch of burnt games, an original ChuChu Rocket (don't judge me, came with the console), PAL edition.
Sega MegaDrive 2: RCA mod (made by myself), 2 controllers (one is in a pretty bad condition), w/ Sonic the Hedgehog, Puggsy, The Ottifants, and The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare (again bought because of Sonic, didn't really cared of other games), all without box.
Sega Master System 2: RCA mod (made by myself), 2 controllers, w/ Sonic the Hedgehog 2, with a case, and the official booklet, both in very good condition.
Nintendo Wii Red Limited Edition: 2 controllers, a red and a white, softmodded, w/ Super Smash Bros Brawl, Sonic and Secret Rings, Sonic and the Black Knight, World Sports Party, Mario Strikers Charged Football, New Super Mario Bros.Wii (came with console), Hell's Kitchen: The Game (bought for fun), every single one with a case, New Super Mario Bros only with the paper-case (because came with console).
Nintendo 64: Standard grey edition, 1 controller, w/ Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, NFL 98 (was a surprise, wasn't part of the console, maybe a mistake?)
Nintendo DS Lite: Black edition, w/ Pokemon: HG, White, Black 2, Rangers Shadows of Almia, Sonic Rush, Madagascar (italian edition lol), Sonic and Mario on the Winter Olympics.
Nintendo 3DS: Coral Pink edition (at christmas, of coure which was last one left, meh dealt with it, cause all-in all it doesn't differ from the others), w/ Mario Kart 7,Super Mario 3D Land, Super Pokémon Rumble, Sonic Generations, all with case.
Nintendo Gameboy Advance: transparent edition, scratched display, w/ Pokemon Emerald (2, a fake and the original w/ case), Pokemon FireRed (2, a fake and the original, for the original there is no case), Pokemon Blue German Edition, Harry Potter 5.

And also an i5, 540M laptop, and a FX-6300, R7 260X PC, with an AverMedia Live Gamer Portable.

I think that's for me, thanks for reading!

Welcome Andri. Also, no one should judge you for owning Chu Chu Rocket, as that is an awesome game.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Hi guys!

My real name is Ryan, and I live in the Bahamas.

Unfortunately, a real big con with living in paradise is there is virtually no retro gaming culture. There aren't any flea markets, salvation armies, and any other places for you to build up your game collection.

This isn't to say I don't have my own game collection, however, I did live in the United States for two years and from there, I got to build up my SNES collection, which includes about 25 Games including Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Illusion of Gaia, and all the Donkey Kong Country games.

Anyway, I'm happy and I know someday I'll have a better collection, there is always eBay

My big collecting goal is to someday own a Famicom Disk System, a Sattelaview, and a N64DD.

Hey Ryan, nice to meetcha! It sounds like you have a pretty nice SNES collection, at least ^^

Other than that, how do you like living in the Bahamas? As a Vermonter, that seems exotic and glorious.
Final Fantasy IX is the best one

Hey there Racketboy!
I'm Smoogyvonsmoogy, but my my real name is Nick (or Harold, depending on who you ask).
Unlike most people my age (18) I don't really collect N64 or GameCube. My favourite systems to collect are Atari 2600, Master System, and Vectrex (I know good luck with that last one). I've been collecting since 2010, and haven't stopped since. I pretty much play anything new or old. My favourite genres of games are platformers (particularly Yoshi's Island, Fez, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario World, Banjo-Kazooie, the Ratchet & Clank series, and Rayman Legends), rhythm games (Guitar Hero and Audiosurf in particular, but god forbid I play DDR), shooters (even though I'm terrible at them), and strategy games (Civilization baby!). As you can tell by my picture i'm big into jazz, particularly Coltrane and Brubeck, but I really love pretty much any kind of music (except country and dubstep), and some of my favourite artists are Pet Shop Boys, Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, Supertramp, Black Sabbath, N.W.A., Dream Theater, and plenty of others. I also play drums (not well, but I can hit them) and run a bottom of the barrel YouTube channel all about games and cartoons. Also I'm Canadian, so my computer is made out of moose antlers held together by maple syrup.
Systems owned: Odyssey, Commodore 64, Apple II+, Intellivision II, Atari 2600, Leisurevision, Atari 400, Vectrex, Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, Turbografx-16, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii U, PS1, PS2, PS3.

I'm almost at 400 posts now, I guess I should introduce myself.

Well I am a 35 year old white guy who has been playing video games since circa 1982. Like other gamers my age, I've seen this industry's good times and bad. But even after over thirty years of this hobby, I still find enough joy in playing to bother keeping up. With a full time job and a family, I don't have as much time to play as I once did, but I still make time for the greatest form of entertainment yet devised by humanity.

My top dozen favorite games:

Bionic Commando NES
Fallout PC
Final Fantasy XII PS2
Front Mission: Gun Hazard SFC
Gargoyle's Quest GB
Hotel Dusk DS
Out Of This World SNES
Phantasy Star SMS
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne PS2
Thief: The Dark Project PC
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past SNES
Vagrant Story PS1

My username is a combination of the words "exhume" and "terminator". This is a stupid joke to myself. I often play games well past their release date, hence I exhumed them. Then I finish them, hence termination. So my username simply implies beating older games. Speaking of beating games, if you check my sig you'll find a link to my HLTB log. That's where I've been keeping a list lately of games I've finished and what I thought about them (just click on the empty bar space next to the game name).

My avatar comes from a flyer for one of Namco's all time best games:
(NSFW)
You can read about it here (bottom half of page, NSFW):

As far as collecting goes I own a shitload of systems and handhelds and an insane amount of games. But I'm not going to talk about that in detail because it'll just sound like bragging. I'm actually in the process of selling stuff off now as I've run out of room.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
