You hold up there boy. New GnR may suck, but old GnR, no way. That's like saying the 80's suck, and I know that's not true.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Song sucks, GnR pretty much sucks anyway, this song is just wow though.

Popular 80's music usually did suck. But I must admit that I do miss the sense of melody that most of those 80's one-hit wonders had. Pop music is so pasteurized and generic these days. I guess we can thank Pro Tools for that. With software like that, ANYONE can make a song - albeit a digitized, artificial-sounding one. (Still, it definitely beats cutting old tape reels back in the analog days if you wanted to loop anything, in spite of how much better sounding analog is.)philipofmacedon wrote:That's like saying the 80's suck, and I know that's not true.

axl was never GnR, this is apparent by listening to chinese democracy. album is a shit sandwich.
unfortunately i live in lafayette, indiana, which means i get to hear about all sorts of stories from when axl and izzy "grew up" here.
"yeah man, i went ta high school with them, and like, once, we like, went muddin and then we went and spray painted the 7-11. it was awesome. axl rose is my best friend."

I think the album is great.
"Your vessel, your beginning. All that you knew...is gone." - The Guardian of Forever
Re: Gnr chinese democracy
I used to use that refrain, but I've found now that 80's popular music was actually quite a bit better than most of what is out now. The 80's was a big time for music experimentation and even a lot of the pop tracks reflected this. Every decade has stuff that sucks. Once enough time goes by that stuff tends to filter out and show up less and less often.
I think in the long term the music of the 80's will have better staying power than that of the 90's and the 00's thanks to a focus on melody and unique sounds.
Let's revisit this in 20 or 30 years and see what actually happens
