Ticked - Will probably not be getting the fire truck. Turns out the other guy I am bidding against is a volunteer fire department not terribly far from where I grew up, and they need parts for their main two engines. So the seller asked if he could drop the auction and I said that I lowered my bid down to right above their bid. Getting new farm equipment is not more important than what these guys do. That, and we can always find another one.
Smile - Apparently in our holler my father in law found twenty railroad rails (we have 3inch rail from a crane, but this is standard issue railroad rail).
Ticked - Turns out railroad rails cannot be sold to scrap yards. People use to pry it up from active tracks and go sell it so they just made it illegal.
Smile - Looks like I will have a a whole mess of jeweler/leather work anvils and some bookends after we get out the gaspowered saw and an abrasive wheel.

Makes sense. You remember that scene in October Sky?fastbilly1 wrote:Ticked - Turns out railroad rails cannot be sold to scrap yards. People use to pry it up from active tracks and go sell it so they just made it illegal.

That is exactly what I was thinking about when I was typing it up. Such a good movie.MrPopo wrote:Makes sense. Smile: I just got off the horn, and I am thrilled to say I have received an offer at an executive position. Next Friday I will speak with the company concerning compensation.
Thrilled.
Called my wife, called my parents, called my Grandmother, called my Sister, called my friends, and now I'm posting the news here. You guys are my runner, runner, runner, runner ups.

I'm disappointed your sister outranked us. I can understand all the other people coming in ahead.

Thanks, and woot indeed.Stark wrote: Woot!
I can explain that: She called last night and asked how I was doing, and only for that reason. Very unlike her.MrPopo wrote:I'm disappointed your sister outranked us. I can understand all the other people coming in ahead.
But I am psyched. I've been aggressively seeking something that challenges me, and a position where I can set my own goals. That, and it's about time I get to use my good looks to my advantage in the business world. This face behind a computer screen...a waste of God given talent

Congrats, Luke! I know you'll crush it.
