What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

I have only been to malls in a few states - including North Carolina - but I am pretty sure they are all shitty and that I will be perfectly happy if I never enter a mall again for the rest of my life.

Dems be fightin' words.

Of course MOA is something insane, but Hane's Mall is 80's bliss. And I grew up going to Woodfield in Chicago, which has a stinking aquarium in it. And if you haven't been to Shops on the Parkway, you've never been to a decent strip mall.

Smile: Had an awesome interview this morning, have another this afternoon. The interviewer said "This is a four step process, you're at stage two and you're headed to stage three. Stage four is salary negotiation, so you're actually one step away".

It was a brutal, hour and a half long interview, but I was all smiles.

When it came to the end of the interview my last question to the guy behind the desk was "For solely my benefit, what are my weaknesses as an interviewee?" guy said, "You have none."

That put a glide in my stride and a dip in my hip.

Was it the constant threats of stealing your beloved Ys collection? (I plan to do that the next time I am up there, BTW.)
I better hide it. It's grown since you were last here!

A few of the pickups I've done were conducted on someone's porch too. The industrial monitor I got I went inside because it was a lady and her mother cleaning out the house for a move and they couldn't lift it.
This is a smart idea. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting someone in my house.

I wrote about this here about a year ago - but one time when I was selling I had this guy who kept insisting he come by my place. I told him I would meet him in the shopping center in the middle of the city and he insisted that he wasn't familiar with the location. Total jackass. I reported him.

I have gone to other people's houses for some big hauls. Made sure I talked to them on the phone a few times first and got all their contact info situated just in case some shit went down. No problems so far.

In other news.......

My father-in-law, who plans on moving eventually, destroyed a piano I offered to take off his hands. I guess he got impatient or something and wanted it out of his house. Such a waste.

See though, we don't have cable or satellite - so the only time we get to watch HGTV or DIY is on vacation. It's become a guilty pleasure on vacations. After long days out and about, come back to the hotel for a treat and wind down w/some HGTV. Love it.

Eh it's not really "in the mall" it was an addition to the mall and is pretty much a stand alone establishment.

Also our malls>>>>>> any mall in NC. Southdale is a really good looking mall. I haven't been there since October when they were just wrapping up construction and I couldn't believe the money they were putting into the place. I still miss the old arcade there. It was named Pocket Change.
Yeah, Southdale is legit. I hadn't been there in 10-12 years and figured being 10 mins from MoA it would've died, but it seems to be doing well, expanding, new restaurants and the latest high end boutique style shops (not my thing, but still cool to walk by).

MoA is insane, yeah. Took 45 minutes to get into the ramp on Saturday, which is typical on a weekend but even with 50,000 people in there, there's still enough to do that most restaurants are only a 10-20 minute wait, same with rides or checkouts in the shops. The Lego Store and American Girl store are both must hits for our kids. I see the Microsoft store is right across from Apple store, both seeming to try to see which one can have more staff on duty at any given time. Both had what looked like a better than 1-to-1 staff to customer ration - and both stores were busy...so...yeah. We went back on Monday to do the Aquarium and Peeps - only took 3 minutes to get in, prob only 12-13,000 there Monday.

The Apache Mall in Rochester is pretty nice too - all these malls are large, clean, organized and alive.

The Miller Hill Mall in Duluth is having a bit of resurgence as well adding some trendier stuffs the past few years. 5 guys, Dick's, and a few others.

It doesn't here either. Yesterday it got up to 73 and it was awesome. Now it is 45 with a 20mph wind and supposed to drop to 27 tonight  So ready for some steady weather.

At the very least he could have called habitat for humanity and have it shipped out for free.

Your Father-in-law, killed the gift of music. I just died a bit inside.

Harlem and Irving, Chicago: Awesome.

Woodfield, Chicago: Awesome.

Old Orchard, Chicago: Awesome.

Columbus City Center, Ohio: Was awesome.

Hane's Mall, Winston-Salem NC: Awesome.

The malls in Charlotte and Raleigh do suck eggs though.

I lived in Winston Salem for three years, and I can assure you that Hanes Mall is decidedly not awesome (much like every other mall in the entire world as far as I can tell).
