that's saying a lot. Are you a big Madlib fan? Truthfully, his YNQ stuff is a lot of my favorite work by him. Love that shit.

ehh i used to mess with a lot more of his shit but i honestly thought he was kinda phoning it in in recent years, didn't really go after a lotta the stuff he put out so this kinda shines for me, you know? i still bump Shades of Blue & his older stuff though.

^no doubt, but It Was Written, Stillmatic, and bits of Gods Son/etc are great too. too many Nas fans sleep on Lost Tapes as well.
oh yeah, and Life is Good was surprisingly tight. i swear, Stay sounds like the kinda thing Jay's been trying for & missing with BP3, KC/ etc etc.

Life Is Good was amazing. Really feel like he's had this late-career high going. Like when he dropped Hip Hop is Dead and then did that track "Success" on Jay's American Gangster. He's been on fire since he left Columbia pretty much. Just awesome.IrishNinja wrote:^no doubt, but It Was Written, Stillmatic, and bits of Gods Son/etc are great too. too many Nas fans sleep on Lost Tapes as well.

Stillmatic is def one of my fav Nas albums as well. I love Stillmatic/Blueprint era of Nas & Hov. And agreed on Lost Tapes. Some insanely good stuff on there. Still waiting on Vol 2.

Nas talk? Yes!
Lost Tapes is definitely slept on, as are many of Nas's recent albums. He has a very solid discography and no bad albums (which is why he's my favorite rapper).
You should check out The Firm, it's a group album Nas made with AZ, Nature, and Foxy Brown. Distant Relatives (with Damian Marley) was great too, if you like reggae.
As for Jay-Z, it's actually pretty sad to see how much worse his lyrics have gotten, he's nothing compared to what he used to be.

Re: Hip Hop/Rap Fanatics Unite!
yeah that Firm album is good. A nice companion-piece to It Was Written. Although I'm still bummed that the "Affirmative Action" remix didn't make it to the album. It's on that From Illmatic To Stillmatic EP, but stupidly all of the tracks on there are edited, which def ruins it for me. Who wants to hear Foxy if she can't talk dirty?
Re: Hip Hop/Rap Fanatics Unite!
Looking forward to the 20th anniversary edition illmatic and Nas' new album this year.
Sidebar: I've been listening to Yeezus more often recently, and I have to say it has grown on me alot. It's really likeable if you listen to it in depth.
