You guys are making me way too paranoid about my butt. The fact that my dad has them doesn't ease my worries any.

I can relate to that. A few years back I had a pilonidal cyst. A pre-op office procedure, a post-op removal of the sutures, and another post-op office procedure were the most pain I've ever been in, with the third being the clear winner. I was in so much pain I felt like I could throw up.

So after having the pilonidal cyst, now having a hemorrhoid problem I'm thinking, "God, please no, not another butt problem!"
I had that too remember. 2 surgeries. The hemorrhoid procedure was brief, but pain intensity much higher. Ive fractured my tibia, femur, hand, and fingers. Had pins removed from my hand. That topped all of that in terms of pain and I have a high pain tolerance.

I had my first hemorrhoid last year and I can't imagine the amount of pain to involved in a hemorrhoidectemy. It was so painful that I was pretty much left to taking two positions: lying on my left side and sitting in this awkward slouched position. Didn't eat much for a week. Hopefully I never have to deal with one again, and I especially hope if I do it wont need removing.

I probably have tomorrow off from work due to wet snow/rain. I was told to expect tomorrow off but we might get a call at 5 in the morning if we are working. That shit annoys me. If I have the day off I want to stay up a bit late and play some games but if I do that I don't want to get called in for work. I understand why that is the way it is but it is still annoying.

Yeah, sitting was awkward when I had my pilonidal cyst. It was even worse after the cystectomy. But since then, I kinda got use to sitting to one side or otherwise off center and lying on my sides. So now that I have my first hemorrhoid, sitting in weird positions isn't much of a problem. It's like second nature at this point. Driving isn't fun though. There's only one position you can sit in, and it's not comfortable right now.

At least when I had the cystectomy, it was only painful trying to sit. The hemorrhoids are painful to sit on, but they can also hurt just all the time anyway. Standing, walking... well, what else is there? I can't fucking float!

Luckily, the pain isn't so severe. From reading online (and here) it seems people have been in more pain then me with hemorrhoids. Or is it that I have a higher tolerance? Every once in a while it'll start to become a little too painful, but it's otherwise tolerable. I've been doing nothing to try and combat the pain, other than finding a good position and doing something so I don't focus on it (thank God for video games!).

When I had the cystectomy, well, now I know why we have painkillers. I've heard people say things like "Why do they have to make them so strong?" and "Why do they have to get you high?" Obviously these people have never been in real pain. Honestly, aside from the office procedures, the pain was manageable. I could imagine people being in much worse pain. However, a constant pain on your ass coupled with not being able to sit properly or lie on your back coupled with not being able to go any where because you can't drive, all this lasting for 3 weeks while the few months prior weren't too great either... I'm very glad that painkillers get you high. Having your pain lessened is great, being in a good mood when you'd otherwise be miserable is even better. You just gotta not be an idiot and take too many.

Yeah, I really hate that. You just want to know one way or the other. I know exactly what that feels like, I've been dealing with that twice a week for a few months now.

Guess you guys get it easy. Last year the snow plowing trucks were slipping off the road, the Mayor told everyone to stay inside, and our work still expected us to risk our lives to get in. The attendance was so awful for one day, they tried something new when it snowed again ... we were expected to continually call in the weather hotline to keep up with how late they were pushing back the start time. It changed like 5 times all the way up to 3PM or something, it was shit. Didn't go in though. No break in the warehouse pharmacy world!

I'm a framer so it depends how far along we are on a house and how bad the weather is. My crew just started a new house two weeks ago so we would be working in the weather. If rafters were up and sheathed we probably would have gone in.

I got the call this morning that there was no work today but I'm still not seeing any rain and I ended up sleeping until 9:30. It's nice to sleep in but then I'll have trouble going to bed tonight and end up getting about five hours of sleep. :?
