:P : Was helping out with an Estate Sale my mom was handling from 9am-2pm today.

:? : Alot of people came off as pricks today  . First of all the ad we posted online and in the paper set the start time at 9am and stated "no early entry". So of course people start showing up at 8am thinking they can weasel their way in and get first dibs :P. When we finally opened at 9am everyone rushed in like it was black freaking Friday and things were crazy for a solid hour. Things didn't really slow down after that either :P. We consistently had probably 10-25 people in the small two story house until around 1PM and we didn't get closed until 3pm due to stragglers.

 : We had two groups of people which earned the designation of supreme dicks today as well :P.

The first was an elderly lady on oxygen who came with her daughter. Both were in really bad shape and could hardly make it up the stairs and one ended up sitting in the middle of the stars for the majority of the 30-40 minutes they stayed pretty much completely blocking the star way :P. The whole time they bitched because we wouldn't give them 50+% off our marked prices which were already really low :P. We are also pretty sure that they salted(added items) to various box lots we had around the house before buying them  . Plus they pulled a "well we only have $___ " line on us at the end when we totaled their items which had accumulated into two small mountains in the living room :x .

Then came this Chinese couple with two small kids. They either didn't know a word of English or pretended no to  . They went through every inch of the house and had to pick up anything and everything :P. Most notably they took the batteries out of every electronic device in the house and then scattered them around the house  . They also seemed obsessed with trying to buy items which were already sold and waiting for pick up. They bought a total of $12 worth of stuff(was really $20 but they kept acting like they didn't understand our prices and we wanted them gone  ) and were there maybe 1 hour, but this is where it gets good they come back 20 minutes after their first trip. Once again they try to get my mom to sell sold items out from under people. I was afraid I was going to have to fight the husband because he was being an ass and refused to listen to my mom he just kept getting more and more in our face saying "you sell *to* me I'm here". The whole family went in and out of the house about a dozen times during their second visit and we think they may have smuggled some small stuff out of the house  . We were so freaking happy when the finally left again since it was time to close and we had already taken out signs down. However they weren't done with use yet. Here comes two cars twenty minutes later they are back with even more of their family this time  . The Husband walks in and demands to see the whole house to tired to argue we let him in and after for the hundredth time refusing to sell him two beds which were already sold he leaves  . Shit like this is why I stick to online sales :P.

 Finally we had a lot of people in general swapping price stickers, sneaking extra items out, being obnoxious, and etc. .

:D : We made around $1600 today this first day we opened up to the public selling mostly small household items bringing the total we have earned for the property within the house to well over $3000. That is a hell of a lot more then the $1200 we were offered for all of the houses contents by local auctioneers who refused to take the items on consignment or run a sale on the property :P. Plus we still have the majority of the furniture and a metric ton of cooking ware, glass ware, and misc. stuff to get rid of.

Please tell me you used either crimini, porcini, or sliced portabella mushrooms. Also tell me you didn't use a marsala wine you found in the baking aisle.

Kind of hard to go wrong with chicken marsala though, isn't it?

Yeah, it's critical you brush your mushrooms with a mushroom-shaped brush. Also, abide by this rule: When in doubt, add more Parmesan.

:D Got back to the OBX last night. Saw my dad today. Gonna go grocery shopping later and hope to have my bike fixed soon.

:( Wanna go to the thrift store but they're always closed on Sundays.

:?: Don't know if Orange Blossom is open yet. Gotta talk about getting my old job back.

I got a Sega Genesis/Sega CD bundle for $30 because it didn't turn on. I went home and noticed the usual issue of the power jack solder joint being broken and spent literally 5 seconds repairing it and now both systems work great. :)

:( : Ants have invaded my computer room. Don't know whats drawing them but there are always 2-3 running around the desk and they are getting in the habit of crawling up my arms while I am typing :P . Time to get out the traps :P.

:) : Been wanting a wind up watch for a while now and found a working older one at the estate I have been working on. It's just a cheapy from Hong Kong but it still winds and keeps good time. I like wearing watches but got so tired of battery powered ones dieing or breaking on me things are so damn cheap any more  .

:D : Also ended up getting another uniform for the collection. The woman who passed away was in the Naval Reserve in the seventies and still had a lot of her wardrobe from back then. First female uniform I have acquired.
