Resident Evil DS

Post by jvalentine98 »

Just got a new copy for $15 from amazon, seriously this game was somewhat hard to find a few years ago. Must have gotten another print run in the last couple years.

I think this is a pretty underrated game. It's too bad they didn't include the Director's Cut version over the original, minus the crappy DC soundtrack of course. And it's really the only survival horror for the entire system. I all ready own the game on PS1 and the Remake on GCN, but glad I snatched this up!

This coupled with Doom Advance can turn your DS into a hellish zombie blasting system, vs an RPG or Mario machine. :D

I need to get this game again too.

It looks like my brother lost my copy I let him borrow.

I was a big fan of the original on the PS1.

Does this have the tank controls like the original game or the more modern ones?

It has the same controls as RE 4. Just the camera angles are fixed. In all REs, even the new ones, you press up to go forward.

This port was okay. The first person battles were an interesting addition but this version is more of a novelty than anything.

It is the original game with some minor differences. The best part is being able to see the map/menus on the other screen while playing.

This game was a product of years of Capcom trying to make a portable RE game, not just a cash in at the moment.

The original Re game was planned for GBC in 99/00 but was canned because it wasn't up to standards. So to compensate Capcom made Gaiden, which is arguably the worst game in the series.

They had wanted this game for a while, and it took until better technology was available to do it. It also coincided with the game's 10 year anniversary. Capcom put out a few lines of action figures to commemorate the occasion, as well.

Resident Evil 2 and 3 were much too big to fit on a DS cart, so this was really the only choice besides making a new game, which they obviously didn't want to do after Gaiden flopped.

Touch the Dead sounds horrible. I'm not a fan of playing with a stylus. It just ruins your screen over time. I try to stick to games where I can only use the D pad
