REPO if you are working 30+ hours a week regularly and can show a few pay stubs, I am sure you could get a small apartment somewhere near public transportation. Even cheaper: maybe a coworker knows someone looking for a roommate? I know that's your plan in NYC, so why not just use the same plan in Orlando? The plus side is that you already HAVE a job there.REPO Man wrote:![]()
AND WHY IS IT SO MOTHERFUCKING HARD TO FIND A GODDAMN HOUSE?????????? It's mostly the same bullshit about how we don't make enough money, it's too expensive, and so on!
If you really are concerned about your whole family getting a place together, check out these sites and do lots of reading up. To be frank, you may all do better to split up a little bit and search out stuff on your own...

Thanks. I'm gonna look into these sites and post them on my mom's Facebook wall (where my aunt's been posting CL listings).dsheinem wrote: If you really are concerned about your whole family getting a place together, check out these sites and do lots of reading up. As for all of us splitting up... my mom would prefer to keep us all together. My grandma's already leaving for the Outer Banks, and with everyone together she also gets to spend time with her granddaughters. Basically, keeping everyone together is more for her sake. Plus it seems like splitting us up would help but it wouldn't be as wise as one may think.

Hey man, my buddy works @ Disney currently. So have three of my other friends in the past. There are affordable one bedroom apartments within a 30 min drive (not sure of your transportation situation). I visited on a few occasions to a few different apt complexes. They were all nice accommodations & my friends were still living within their budget. Just a heads up to hunt 1BR/1B apts in the greater Orlando area. Disney rolls college students through their college internship program so there are college town priced apts around if you hunt hard.REPO Man wrote:Thanks. I understand about the family sticking together but you can also be the stable leg assisting from your own place. Sometimes showing it can be done speaks volumes. Just my 2¢. Good luck to you bud.
Keep in mind advice comes from someone who moved out @ 18, went away to college, & had my first post-graduate job 1,000 miles across the country... I'm very much in the "you gotta do what you gotta do" mentality & I tend to think long term.

Well, right now us splitting up isn't in the cards. And when I move to NYC I don't wanna be stuck in a lease that's several months from ending and trying to break it and end up splurging my moving budget and then some, thereby not being able to move to NYC anyway.
And my mom's looking into trying to get us an apartment in Clermont near the WalMart and the library.
And those links dsheinem posted, apparently my mom checked them out a year ago before we moved down here and they basically sent her in a runaround. Thanks, anyway.

Got it. Well good luck to you Repo. You can also find a realtor who works for you but you don't pay a dime. They get commission from owner. Realtors assist with rental properties, not just houses for sale. Bottom line is, if they suck, get another. You don't owe them anything. Pretty sweet deal for buyers/renters.

This story made me smile. I love TMNT. The Leonardo / Raphael rivalry is the stuff of legends.Luke wrote:I knew it was going to be a fun night as soon as I chose Leo and he said "Ah-ha! I will be your polar opposite, Raphael!" And when I said, "Okay, I'll get top and left, you get bottom and right" he replied with "Oh, so that's the plan from our fearless leader". Of course I said "I never said I was your leader" and of course he followed with "Well you sure do act like it some times".
I never could think of a polite way to broach the subject, but I have been wondering about this for some time as well. Since I can't think of a polite way to ask, I'll just say it like this:Omerta wrote:I never thought about it before but when I look at your "Games Beaten" list while imagining that you type everything at an average (or above) WPM, you're basically my hero now.Luke wrote: List Of Things You Can't Do When You Have One Hand

1) Work as a chef at Benihana's without people being very confused.
2) Give the middle finger with both hands at once.
3) Do either the "This is the church, here is the steeple..." or the "Watch, I can magically remove my thumb" gestures without making children scream.
...and that's about all I can think of.
I'm impressed that you beat so many games in a year. How does a one-handed man play video games? Are certain controllers harder or easier for you to use? Do you use arcade sticks? I imagine you could control the stick with your left wrist and the buttons with your one hand. Do you play lots of light-gun games or on-rail shooters like L.A. Machine Guns?
I apologize for my rudeness. I just don't know of a more polite way to ask. Of course, if you don't want to answer, you could just ignore my post. I'll take that to mean I shouldn't have asked in the first place.
