For World War 3 to happen we need some one like Hitler to reach top position in a country that is well armed and strong enough not to be bullied by the big guys, basically USA, EU, Russia, and China.

Not really. World War I started from circumstances not too dissimilar to what we're seeing now. Of course the difference is that none of the powers involved in that war knew the type of warfare that would be fought beforehand. In this case, Russia and NATO should know that any escalation of conflict here will lead to mutually assured nuclear destruction.

As for the World War I comparison, the world is in no way comparable to the one back in those years. The world is interconnected in so many ways so the masses will hesitate to blindly follow their leaders. And with the threat of a nuclear holocaust hanging over our heads, a huge scale war will not happen for a lot of years.

Because if it would happen, our world is done for. Then we would be playing Fallout in real life.

First sentence: very true, second sentence: not so much. Even with our interconnected world there are plenty of people who are willing to let others think for them.

I don't think we'll go to war with Russia. Considering who our leaders are right now and the stakes at hand, it looks very unlikely. For better or worse, Obama's not going to start a war that could cost millions of lives to honor a treaty made with little forethought 20 years ago.

More amusing is the thought that if we did get into an armed conflict to protect Ukraine that nuclear weapons would come into play. If we were going to try and take over Russia, yeah, that'd be nuke city. Kicking them out of Ukraine would be a conventional conflict; Russia isn't stupid.
