Cruel Gun Story is an excellent film noir, but it is very conventional.
Branded to Kill, on the other hand, is going to blow your mind. Seijin Suzuki basically said, "Fuck it" and made a movie so off the rails that it got him: (1) fired from Nikkatsu; and (2) blacklisted from directing any more films for several decades. Two stills from the film:
Its influence on Grasshopper Manufactures's Suda51 is apparent, and the film is just as strange (if not stranger) than most of his games. I absolutely loved it, and I command you to see it ASAP.
