Sorry!

Tokyo Drifter is good, no doubt. I just think Cruel Gun Story, Youth of the Beast, and the absolutely gonzo Branded to Kill are so much better. (I loved Tokyo Drifter's unique style, but I personally found the other moves much more engaging.)

Awesome, I'm going to have to check them out. Branded to Kill has been on my radar for a while, but I was unaware of Cruel Gun Story.

Cruel Gun Story is an excellent film noir, but it is very conventional.

Branded to Kill, on the other hand, is going to blow your mind. Seijin Suzuki basically said, "Fuck it" and made a movie so off the rails that it got him: (1) fired from Nikkatsu; and (2) blacklisted from directing any more films for several decades. Two stills from the film:

Its influence on Grasshopper Manufactures's Suda51 is apparent, and the film is just as strange (if not stranger) than most of his games. I absolutely loved it, and I command you to see it ASAP.

Haha, sold! I will likely swing down to Videodrome this weekend to see if they have it to rent. I'm now expecting it to be more avant garde than Hausu.

Honestly...Its up there. (One of the villain's is named Number One Killer; the protagonist frequently hallucinates and can only become sexually aroused if he smells boiling rice; etc.) I hope you enjoy it!

Any one remembers a movie from around 99-2001 , it was about a hitman in Japan/China I believe . It involved business corporations and guns. I am not sure if its an American movie or Japanese dubbed in English. I remember them wearing black suits, but thats all I remember. It was a really good movie. Is it possible it Contract Killer by Jet Li , any one saw that?

I'm probably going to see that sometime this weekend unless you come back and say it's a steaming pile.

It's not a steaming pile...well, not all of it. Full of action, but ro see eally dumb and no where near as good as the TAKEN series. Liam's acting saves it from being a pile, but if you've seen the trailer you know there is a *twist*. A really dumb one that left the audience moaning.

If you want to see a drunk Liam beat people up and shout at people for around two hours while on a plane, go see this. I promise they'll be all kinds of "Liam just did whaaaa?"s, but the story...I'm lost on how to describe it. It's not Michael Bay dumb but it's no where Spielberg smart.

I would have rather watched the LEGO Movie again.

I just watched 12 Years a Slave.

Overall I did not like the movie that much. While the story is interesting, I found the direction annoying, too often there is just close ups of someones face for 60 seconds or still scene for another 60 seconds. I understand it is trying to have an emotional impact but all it does is remove me from the movie.

I also found the movie conveyed timed terribly, if it was not for the title I would have had no idea on the grasp of the time that had passed.

I also found the whipping of naked women to poles unneeded, I understand it is trying to make an impact, but I feel like far more could have been made with off camera scenes which leave it to your imagination to fill in the blanks. I don't need to watch someone, naked, getting whipped for 30 seconds straight.

I found it fairly boring and relied on shock rather and historical information.

Just my opinion, most people I have seen talk about hold it highly.
