I actually don't mind that. It's a Final Fantasy tradition and I think it looks cool.

Anyway, this is my favorite game so I'll def be watching this later.

Gunstar Green wrote:Now for my minor criticism of FFVI, I always hated how the enemies are basically just cardboard cutouts. This was acceptable in older games but a lot of FFVI's contemporaries at least gave enemies a few frames of animation so you felt like you were fighting something that was alive.

It pushes the envelope in so many other areas, but drops the ball on that one. Although I imagine it was probably the fault of the art style and having so many enemies in the first place that animating them all would've been impossible or time consuming.
I think you hit it in that last part there -- I would guess the sheer size of the game prevented any further enemy detail. But yeah the enemy artwork and animation reminded me of the first Lufia game at times. (That's not a good thing.)

A bit different from your usual stuff, but not a bad look at the game. I enjoyed Link's Awakening immensely when I played it in the mid-90s, and yes, I did use a Super Game Boy.

So, what's next? You've gotten the Final Fantasy 6 video out of the way, so what do you plan to look at now? A big name, or something more obscure?

Also, how much flak have you gotten over FF6? I love the game, but some of your criticisms I understand and agree with. As much as I enjoy the opera sequence, at this point it's simply turned into me going "Dialog 1, 2, 1, beaten."

Thanks! Much appreciated

I'm a mod at the SNES subreddit so I'm trying to do videos that tackle the most frequently asked questions. Next is probably a Mega Man X series video. Also a "best multiplayer games (both vs. and co-op)" video will have to be done as well since that question gets asked all the time.

I misspoke at the beginning of the video (I said "is" instead of "was", referring to the title of the game in the US) which made some people dismiss the video offhand. That's disappointing but whatever.

Overall the response was really nice to see. I mean I wasn't getting attacked for not worshiping the game or anything.

Meh, your videos are in relation to SNES games, where FF6 is still FFIII. I understood what you meant and don't have an issue with it.

And remind me to finally get around to making a Reddit account just to read that subforum and post there with my horrible, horrible beliefs, like why Shaq Fu isn't as bad as everyone thinks.

It really isn't! There's way way worse. Like Tuff E Nuff.

Haha, actually I don't think Tuff E Nuff is that bad. Yes, there's four characters(well...three and a palette swap for a token minority), and they all play like a poor SF2 rip off, but I thought the idea of battling up a tower in a post-apocalyptic world was actually pretty cool. Also, nifty stage design. The controls just really hold it back.

When I think of bad fighters on the SNES, I think more along the lines of Battle Blaze or Street Combat.

Oh goodness. So painfully 90s and generic as hell. Don't think I've ever played Battle Blaze though.
