What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Neeson would be perfect. He could deliver straight lines while everything around him was pure insanity and it still be believable, which is perfect for a Naked Gun reboot.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

I can't believe this is the first time I watched this film in its entirety. All I've seen before was the ending. Really great film full of 80s goodness ^_^. Loved the stop motion with ED-209 and Robocop himself looks really cool. I loved the 80s business politics going on in the movie
Also, I know it's probably just me being a nerd who can't let go, but doesn't the new Robocop design look shit by comparison?

Liam also has that stoic quality to him that makes "idiocy" work on-screen.SirGawain wrote:Neeson would be perfect. He could deliver straight lines while everything around him was pure insanity and it still be believable, which is perfect for a Naked Gun reboot.
Ed Helms is too goofy and he can't deliver a line with a "Umm" or "Hmm". Same with Carrell. We don't want to expect comedy coming from Drebin (that's what Norberg is for), that's what made Police Squad and the first Naked Gun work so well.
Not saying that Helms can't pull it off, but I don't expect a lot of deadpan humor from him.

Agreed. Helms and Carrell are always expected to be hilarious and their voices are associated with it. Imagine the leg scene from Naked Gun 33 1/3 and try replacing the voice with Neeson and then Helms. Neeson wins hands down

Liam Neeson's voice also lends towards the Drebin vibe. There is a nice timber to it that appeals to the stoic nature of the character.Luke wrote:Liam also has that stoic quality to him that makes "idiocy" work on-screen.SirGawain wrote:Neeson would be perfect. ^ Drebin is debonair, suave, defined. Ed's a goofball.
But, I'll never judge a movie until I see it.

Or they could just not fucking reboot it. Make something else and perhaps acknowledge the influence.Luke wrote:Had to bring this up...
There is a Naked Gun reboot in the works, and there talks of hiring a comedic actor to star as Frank Drebin. But that's not what Leslie Neilsen was before he took the role.
You know who would make a perfect Drebin? Liam Neeson. He has the voice, the presence, the acting chops, and o me it seems like a perfect fit.
Who would you guys cast as Drebin?

This. Hollywood needs to stop rebooting old classics, and deliver new and creative IP. Though I won't be holding my breath.Hobie-wan wrote:Or they could just not fucking reboot it. Make something else and perhaps acknowledge the influence.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
And waste all that money they spent on the property rights? That's sooooo not Hollywood. If they don't use it they lose it, which is why you see so many reboots.Hobie-wan wrote: Or they could just not fucking reboot it. Make something else and perhaps acknowledge the influence.
You hardly ever hear people complain about vidja game reboots*.
* A new Super Mario bros' game? Screw that mess.
I mean you do have some outliers such as Duke Nukem Forever, but gamers are usually drooling at the idea of a new GTA.

Yeah no-one is freaking out about THIEF, or freaked out about DmC or Tomb Raider.
