Re: Games Beaten 2014
Lately I've been playing PC and handheld games because there was some flooding in my room, my family's TVs are awful, and the PVM I ordered was dead on arrival. All those nice console games will have to wait.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
Have you tried Shinovi Versus? The difficulty there ranges from so easy it's a joke, to my god this game is evil. There's never really a nice spot in between those two extremes. It's a pretty unbalanced game. But This series is kind of like fast food. They're enjoyable, but you certainly can't go into these games expecting fine cuisine. They're a guilty pleasure in more ways than one. Easy to pick up and play, and fun in short bursts, but all their flaws shine through in long play sessions. Personally, I kind of like these games for their sheer boldness. Seeing a game with so much blatant and downright racy T & A on a Nintendo platform amuses me. How far we've come from the Ultra conservative Nintendo of old.Valkyrie-Favor wrote:Lately I've been playing PC and handheld games because there was some flooding in my room, my family's TVs are awful, and the PVM I ordered was dead on arrival. 1. Blood II: The Nightmare Levels (PC)(FPS)
2. Metal Slug (MVS)(Run and Gun)
3. Clive Barker's Undying (PC)(FPS)
4. Judge Dredd: Dredd Vs. Death (PC)(FPS)
5. Lagoon (SNES)(RPG)
6. Tin Star (SNES)(Light Gun)
7. Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (SNES)(Puzzle)
8. World Heroes (MVS)(Fighting)
9. Mario's Early Years: Preschool Fun (SNES)(Edutainment)
10. Rival Turf! (SNES)(Beat 'Em Up)
11. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Genesis)(Fighting)
12. SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium (NGPC)(Fighting)
I am surprised that I managed to go all of January without picking up my NGPC, but then I blame Ogre Battle and the wearing away of my time to devote to games this year. But I had a spare hour today and instead of booting up my SNES, I figured why not pick up my NGPC and play a few rounds. And after a quick run through with Ken solo(which, as has previously been stated in our discussions on the NGPC, this fighter is phenomenal), I decided to begin focusing on unlocking Master moves using the "Olympic" system, in honor of the US winning the first Gold Medal of the 2014 Winter Olympics. There are quite a few distinct games on there, ranging from a traditional 100-fight survivor mode to a Beatmania knock off featuring Felicia.
The amount of content on this handheld fighter is shocking, and I expect it will be a long time before I finally actually finish unlocking everything on it. This is a MUST OWN for anyone with an NGPC.

1. Hotline Miami (PS3)
2. Boulder Dash XL 3D (3DS)
3. Mirror's Edge (PS3)
4. Orcs & Elves (DS)
5. 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3)
6. Justice League Heroes: The Flash (GBA)
7. Metal Gear (MSX/PS2)
I have been meaning to beat Metal Gear for years. I knew it was an 8-bit classic, but for some reason, I missed the NES version in my youth. Moreover, the NES version's password system was always off-putting for me as an adult. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Metal Gear Solid games, however, and I always hoped that I would someday find inspiration to push through the original. The fact that it is this month's "Together Retro" selection provided me with that inspiration.
I ended up really enjoying the game, and although I read Noise's comparisons to The Legend of Zelda, I thought it was a bit more like an over-head Metroid. Some of the design was a bit archaic. (The sequence for destroying Metal Gear is too cute and convoluted; there are no "creative" uses for the times; the radio was generally an annoyance; Soldi Snake has to take off his gas mask to use his keys; and by the end of the game, I felt like I was fumbling with my keys every time I wanted to open a door, a feeling that was not particularly pleasant when Solid Snake was being shot or gassed to death.) Archaic design aside, however, the game was very fun, and it was quite addictive once I got into it.
Before the end of the year, I may try my hand at the sequel, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX/PS2), and if so, I may also try to push through Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) so that I have all of the "core" Metal Gear games under my belt. (Just in time for Metal Gear Solid 5!) I may also revisit the NES version (on an emulator so that I do have to write down the passwords) and compare it to the MSX original. Finally, if I am incredibly inspired, I may try to beat Snake's Revenge (NES) just to see if it is really as bad as I have read (and also so that I can say I defeated a villain named Higharolla Kockamamie).

1-Metroid Confrontation
2-Red Dead Redemption
3-Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare
4- Bayonetta (PS3)
5- Doom 1 (Ps3) (BFG Edition)
6- The Last of Us (Ps3)
Bayonetta
Well not the best port by any means, there were lots of times were you can see the framerate drops to like 20fps but still a damn FUN game.
Since the first second i grabbed the controller and started playing i was enjoying the game, i really like hack and slash but so far i have only played the more simple like god of war. Unlike other hack n slash i have tried there's a heavy enfasis on dodgind the attacks of your opponents, when you succesfully dodged a attack you slow time for a few seconds and you can cast a good amount of damage like this (there's some enemies with armor that can only be hurt this way).
After this i really looking forward to try the devil may cry games on the PS2.
Doom 1
This is the first time i actually beated doom al the way through (didn't get 100% on every level though) and by far the most fun levels are from episode 4... there's a bunch of enemies... lots and lots of them. I barely get out on the first two levels of that episode and managed to get out by running away from everything
, after that you get more ammo and weapons and then the game gets really good
What more can i say? It's Doom, that shotgun was fun to use 15 years ago and it is fun to use today.
The last of Us
So i go back to my cousin's house and decided to finish the game.
I already mentioned what i think of the ending on the random thoughs so i'll just skip to the gameplay. It is the most balanced game on cinematics. history and gameplay i have played so far. The game dosen't do anything outside of the box, it's action cinematic adventure game with some survival horror elements, some RPG elements, some puzzle elements, some stealth elements. It dosen't add anything on those genre's but it uses those thing and convides them in very efective way, sure you can go guns blazing evey time but you can also go quiet and take down the enemies one by one without anybody to notice or you can just go quiet and avoid them... though there's parts where YOU HAVE to kill your enemies to advance.
I can see why so many people like it and i will lie if i say i didn't enjoy it... but i not sure if i want every game to be like this (because i saw there's a lot of games trying this uncharted formula). It is a game that should be played, and i recomend it.

#5 Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus
Good game, pretty short though. The game keeps you moving forward with a little bit to do as far as re-visiting stages. Really seemed to be just the right amount of everything in this one though.
Any adventure fan should try it out and I think it is a cheaper title also.

#6 Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty.
Well not the Booty I was hoping for but it was a decent Ratchet and Clank experience. I need to lay off Ratchet for a while now. Maybe time to go for FF13, hopefully it lives up to expectations.
