Funny timing Ryan...

1. Dead Space 3* + Awakened (PS3)
2. Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD (WiiU)
3. Super Metroid* (WiiU)
4. Binary Domain (PS3)
5. New Super Mario Bros U (WiiU)
6. Silent Hill 4 The Room (PS2)
7. Deus Ex: HR* Director's Cut (WiiU)

* = replay

Basically have to echo most of what Ryan said. This was my first time through the Missing Link DLC, which I thought was absolutely top notch loaded with some amazing twists and turns that fit together after awhile, oh so perfectly. The level design and graphics were definitely a huge step up from the base game in this portion, it made me think of id level texture/detailing. The finale to it was a similar situation as the original ending, except it was almost more intense here. Damn good addition to the main game.

I have to say, I loved this game to death the first time around, and that remains, but I felt like I noticed the writing/dialogue really holds up well and was better than I remembered towards the end. I definitely loved the writing here and thought Darrow's end was the best this time around by a good amount, even if I like some of David's ideals as well. What I mostly like is how neutral/cynical this game and the writing is for the most part, unlike say Mass Effect or something that usually ends up being very black or white.

Here's my post for those two:
viewtopic.php?p=848010#p848010

Already looking back on them and wishing I had more, haha. Binary Domain was super easy to sit down and play whenever I wanted, in short bursts or long ones. Was just oddly relaxing and really fun.

Still got Luigi U and extra stuff in NSMB U so I'm excited about that. I knocked on this one a little in my post, but kind of like Binary Domain... after a week or so my days are feeling weird without getting some of this in, haha. Fun stuff for sure.

I also did mention Donkey Kong Country Returns in my post there in comparison, and I'm a few worlds into that and definitely loving it. Might prefer it to NSMB U, but they are a bit different I guess.

Yeah Xeo, The Missing Link is definitely my favorite part of the game. I particularly love the twist at the end.

As far as the endings go, I usually go for the... alternate option. It's sad but it feels like the right thing to do.

I also like the Sarif and Darrow endings. But I feel a bit selfish chosing them.

Also the arrangement of the classic Deus Ex theme at the end.

Assassin's Creed IV Wii U
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon PC
Splinter Cell: Blacklist Wii U
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 1 PC
The Wolf Among Us: Episode 2 PC
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Wii U
Jazzpunk PC

Here we have another example of one of those short adventure-esque games, this one being centered around comedy. It is funny, and extremely weird. It's definitely not worth what I paid I don't think. I enjoyed it to be certain but it's only about an hour long. Unlike a lot of comedy games however, it's very cohesive and its structure lends itself to multiple playthroughs. There are a lot of mini-games and a bunch of interactive nonsense. I thought this game would be a love it or hate it thing for most people yet I ended up firmly in the middle with no strong opinion. I found some things very funny but a lot of it just didn't sing to me. Seems like a lot of people really love it though.

1. We Love Katamari (PS2)
2. Major Minor's Majestic Marching Band (Wii)
3. Mario and Luigi: Dream TEam (3DS)
4. Petz: Wildlife Rescue (Wii) (Don't Ask)
5. Flow (PS3)
6. Journey (PS3)
7. Shenmue (DC) (5th completion)
8. Ben There, Dan That (PC)
9. Serena (PC)
10. Graffiti Kingdom (PS2)

Serena - An "adventure" game that was free through steam about a man wandering between two rooms in a cottage getting more and more angry at his wife....with a TWIST. The game is nothing more than a glorified flash game essentially trying to be akin to other games like Gone Home, but lacks the talent and content to equal that. The voiceacting is awkward and uncomfortable and there are strange moments that just don't fit with the game, like finding a porno mag in the nightstand drawer and him talking about it over and over again. It is free though so....what are ya gonna do.

Graffiti Kingdom - I have loved this game and played the crap out of it, but never beat it. I wish I had the memory card filled with awesome creations from the past like my electricity shooting penis with testicle legs! .... It really was a sight to behold. I may actually continue to play the game just to make crazy things and post some videos and images. The creation tools to this game are phenomenal.

January 25th - The Book of Unwritten Tales
January 27th - Super Mario Bros. (Replay)
Feburary 7th - Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge

That was one brutal game. It makes the first Mega Man on the NES look like Kirby's Adventure in comparison. Normally I play Mega Man games in a pure run -- no E Tanks, special weapons (unless required), or other upgrades -- but in this game I had to use every resource I had to just barely eek out a victory after many, many tries.

Dr Wily's Revenge has a few problems (such as the difficulty), but overall it's a solid entry in the Mega Man series. I'm excited to play the other games in the Game Boy series.

1. Back to the Future: The Game - PC
2. Syndicate - PC
3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - PC
4. Resident Evil: Revelations - 3DS
5. The Walking Dead - PC
6. The Walking Dead: 400 Days - PC
7. Cyber-Lip - Neo Geo (Via Neo Geo X)
8. Metal Slug 4 - PS2

Total for 2014: 8

Metal Slug 4 - PS2
I bought the port of this awhile ago but never dug into it. As some back story I have finished Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 5 ,7 and XX but have played all entries other than the Neo Geo Pocket games and the PS2 3D shoot and really enjoyed them.

This is the first Metal Slug game that I actually got bored playing, the whole game feels recycled, even among itself (the last level is mostly two screens repeating themselves).

The first and second level are pretty much the same thing, very little to destroy, then hope on the back of a car / bike and shoot.

There are quite a few sections of the game that have you standing in the same section over and over just killing hordes of enemies, literally for more than 2 minutes, it just gets old fast.

It is not a bad game by any mean, but easily it is the worst Metal Slug game, I know SNK were having issues at the time and I know the game was not even developed by them, but it still does not change the fact it does not stand up with the rest of the series, Metal Slug Advance, which I am currently trying to 100% is leaps and bounds better than this.

NOTE: The PS2 port itself is really nice and crisp with component cables and never had any noticeable slow downs.

1) Kung Fu NES
2) Altered Beast Genesis
3) Golden Axe Genesis
4) Golden Axe GBA
5) Golden Axe Dreamcast
6) Golden Axe PS2
7) Golden Axe Sega CD
8) Golden Axe 360
9) Ninja Gaiden xbox
10) Ninja Gaiden NES
11) Cool Spot Genesis
12) The Duel Genesis
13) Pit Fighter Genesis
14) Hard Drvin' Genesis
15) Death Duel Genesis
16) Sonic The Hedgehog Genesis
17) Mutant League Football Genesis
18) TMNT Hyperstone Heist Genesis
19) Streets of Rage Sega CD
20) Streets of Rage 2 Genesis
21) Golden Axe 2 Genesis
22) Sewer Shark Sega CD
23) Chiki Chiki Boys Genesis
24) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Genesis
25) Mega Man 2 NES

Games. I've been beating them.

I play a lot of the same games every year so no real surprises here. I will comment on SOR2 though.

Streets of Rage is one of my favorite games. I spent most of my weekends playing this game with friends when I was in middle school. My Father is quite the audiophile so the Sega CD was hooked up to his home theater system, and it was LOUD.

The music from Streets of Rage still gives me goosebumps, and I'm not being flippant. When I hear that first bass line beat I know I'm in for almost a full hour of Sega greatness.

Streets of Rage 2 also has an excellent soundtrack, but not as good as the original. The sprites as larger, the graphics a bit more polished, and the difficulty is non-existent.

I play SOR2 because it is fun, but that's the only reason I play it. It doesn't provide the challenge that SOR does, the combat isn't as great as the first game, and it almost feels like "Streets of Rage for Kids" as the grittiness of the original is missing. Almost as if the game lost the edginess the first one had.

Fun game, but not Sega-y enough for me.

Don't forget that they removed the coolest special attack in all of video game history.
