Out of the five or six I have this one seems to be built the best. No power cords to worry about 4 input composite + S Video to one output with push button switches. Also has what I believe is an audio jack for headphones on the front but I have never used it.isiolia wrote:With the current market, I'd say to go look at whatever retail outlets you have, or that are good for you to mail order from and look there. The ones I have aren't made anymore, but they're just the passive switches that Gamestop and all used to carry. Not high quality, but functional.RCBH928 wrote:Any one recommend a specific A/V switch box? I used to have one that needed electricity to work and then it slowly died and had output issues, the signal was bad.
These days, nearly any consumer device is HDMI capable, so that's where the focus is. Composite/S-Video/Component switches are still out there, but tend to be low-tier products. So, probably, find whatever cheapo $10-20 box a convenient retailer has and try it.
Personally, I'd say to consider an A/V receiver as well, or to start with. Aside from the upgrade to audio, you've usually got a fair number (and possibly variety) of inputs to work with. Higher end models can also serve as video scalers/converters.

If you want the cheapest I just bought one of these the other day. $5 Shipped fresh from china
3 composite inputs to one output pretty flimsy and cheap about what you would expect for the price.

That's what I use, and have for years (except mine are a solid black color). Never had to replace them, and none of them have ever gone out on me. Obviously if you're looking for HD, you're not gonna get it from these. But for standard definition, it works fine.Fragems wrote:

You can get these used for pretty cheap all day long on eBay...

I've had one of those for years, and although I don't use it anymore, it has always worked great.
It doesn't require a power supply, unless you want to convert to RF... but don't do that.
I always liked that it matched the aesthetics of the PS2, and it looks nice sitting on top of one.
Also, it has tabs to label each source selection, which I always thought was pretty cool. I know it has N64, Gamecube, Playstation, Playstation 2, DVD and VHS. It might have had more, I don't remember.

I dont understand the hype around Bravely Default. I see its gimmick, but it still doesn't seem like it'd play very differently from a generic RPG.

NoES on NES is so frustrating. It's just one of those games that I keep coming back to, though. I love the music.

YES! The music is seriously one of my favorite NES soundtracks of all time. I'm so glad when somebody else recognizes the greatness of this game. I love it hard.Gooseberrysoda wrote:NoES on NES is so frustrating. It's just one of those games that I keep coming back to, though. I love the music.

I once had 3 other people over to play it w/ the NES satellite. I had a great time, but everyone else was miserable... hahaha. It's really a fun game though. Not easy growing up on Elm Street. That little tune that plays when you touch a radio rocks.noiseredux wrote:YES! The music is seriously one of my favorite NES soundtracks of all time. On another note, I might bitch about the controls, darkness, & difficulty in The X-Files: Resist or Serve, but it's the truest "survival horror" experience I've ever had- I'm limping through the game, barely surviving on aspirin and nearly useless bullets. Maybe I'm bad at it, or maybe the game is bad, but it's thrilling, and so rewarding to get past a rough scene.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
yeah me a 3 friends did this w/ the satellite when I was like 12 or something. Was awesome. I've never beaten it solo though which is sad considering the hours I've pumped into that game. Funny as it might sound, NOES is perhaps my most played NES game of all time.Gooseberrysoda wrote: I once had 3 other people over to play it w/ the NES satellite. I think I will buy the RCA model or the one that matches ps2 aesthetics . Any one can recommend a component switcher?
We are a PAL region and I always hated the PAL product, it always seems like its the lesser product not done with care. I got 1 PAL dvd and another NTSC , the PAL one looks like a Chinese knockoff and the NTSC one looks professionally done with a booklet insert . I always try to pick NTSCBoneSnapDeez wrote:PAL artwork can be pretty crazy/awesome sometimes...
