Any time you use the word "better" you are talking about opinions, unless you are specifying the bounds. If you say, "Which car is better from the perspective of going 0 - 60?" then you can evaluate without going too far into opinions, but when you start talking about which version of a game is better, there is no answer that is NOT opinion. Sounds to me like the consensus (minus you) thinks that the Dreamcast version looks and plays better, even though it lacks some cut scenes (and really, how important are cut scenes to something you play?) and some graphical updates (which may not actually improve the look of the game so much as simply change it).

Why do you continue to try to flog these arguments so hard? You do this kind of thing all the time.

Says the guy bringing up a week old post that's already been discussed.

But to answer your question, because I questioned the validity of recommending the Dreamcast version as the better version when it has less content. To me it sounds like recommending the VHS version of a movie vs. the DVD version that has deleted scenes. (Except for the Japanese Special Edition that was pointed out to me.) And I'm not the kind of guy that accepts something just because the majority says so, that means nothing to me.

I remember back in 2012 when this thread was still about the Gamecube and PS2 releases. Ah the memories.

I like the part where this thread was necro-bumped by a response from the OP over a year later, and I didn't even notice—

Do you also think the Star Wars Special Edition bonus scenes automatically make it better than the original releases? It's more content.

Some people enjoy the graphical or audio differences, some enjoy the bonus scenes, others prefer the use of the VMU or the ability to use the VGA Box, packaged OSTs, or demo discs for Devil May Cry. It all comes down to taste and what sort of features/graphics you prefer. I have the original NTSC-U Dreamcast release, but I'm also interested in things like the PSN port(which I don't believe has been discussed).

Here's an interesting guide which discusses the differences between all of the ports and variants of Code Veronica in both Japan and the US, along with the demo release:
