Just picked up NIER the other day. Reviews seem to be pretty mixed, but I have been wanting to try it out for a while now. Seems like it has some pretty unique features should be interesting.

I hope you find you enjoy it, one of my personal favorite games. One of the few games I would call underrated (in the sense that there's a large disparity between my opinion and what I've seen from critics).

Picked up Mega Man Anniversary Collection for PS2 CIB for $1.99. I don't own any Mega Man games and have very little experience playing any of them, so I'm pretty excited to go through the collection. So far I've played a bit of Mega Man 1, (meh) and Mega Man 8 (surprisingly fun to play with my girlfriend yelling at the screen).

That is a great collection. If I were you, I would play the games in the following order:

Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5
Mega Man 6
Mega Man 8
Mega Man
Mega Man 7

Although I love them both, Mega Man and (the final boss in) Mega Man 7 are the most challenging parts of a reltively difficult series, and you should proabably save them for last. Moreover, Mega Man 2 is, IMO, the perfect Mega Man game; so, I think it is a great starting point. (There is a good argument in favor of Mega Man 3, however, and you may want to try that one first since it is a bit more forgiving.)

I would actually go ahead and keep the order chronological and just adjust the difficulty level for the individual games. Megaman 1 is actually enjoyable when the insane butt gripping difficulty gets tamed a bit.

...I'm not entirely happy with how that last sentence turned out yet I can't bring myself to edit it.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Well i sold some retro games that i know i won't miss (mario kart 64, MK 64 and super mario 64, i can get two of those on the virtual console) and found some nice cheap PS3 games.. they miss the manual but since manual's these days are lame i can live without them.

Silent Hill Homecoming
L.A Noire (this one has the manual and it's cool)
God of War 3 (i might sell this one to my cousin he was looking for this game on the cheap too)
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Viking Battle for Asgard
Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition

Played most of them and they pretty good so far... i'll see if they are worth keeping in the long run.

Got some good stuff this month, mostly PS2.

Weirdest find was Joe Montana Football CIB with the master system sales flyer for £2 in a really old fashioned book shop in my hometown. I know it's neither rare nor particularly good but it was still odd and made me smile.

I would like to add Sturmwind to the list, but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm getting a bit worried.
Games In
SMS: Joe Montana Football and Secret Command

Game Boy: Tecmo Bowl and Blades of Steel

PS1: Final Fantasy 8, Final Fantasy 9, Metal Gear Solid and Wild 9

Saturn: Fatal Fury 3, Fighter's History Dynamite and Shining Force 3: EP1 (All JAP)

N64: Wipeout 64

Dreamcast: Project Justice (JAP)

GBA: Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith

PS2: Devil May Cry 1+3, Onimusha 2+3, Killzone, Shadow of Rome, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Gregory Horror Show, Zone of the Enders, Hyper Street Fighter 2, Drakengard, Killer7, Yakuza and MGS3.

Xbox 360: Batman: Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed IV, Resident Evil 5, Diablo 3, Bioshock, Tales of Vesperia and Persona 4: Arena

PC: Kings Quest 4+5+6, Cannon Fodder, SWOS 96/97
Not all of these were purchases, but rather games being reintegrated back into my collection and some were gifts.

It's a little early, but I couldn't afford to buy anything more this month if I wanted to!

January
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara Wii U eShop - £5.99
World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck Mega Drive - £4.40
Contra III: The Alien Wars Wii U VC - £1.50
Chiki Chiki Boys Mega Drive - £5.98
Metal Gear Solid GBC
Scooby-Doo: Classic Creep Capers GBC
The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror GBC
Bugs Bunny in Crazy Castle 4 GBC- £8.42 for all 4 GBC games
Playstation Vita Console (3G & Wifi) w/ 16GB memory - £279.85 including following 7 games:
Tearaway PSN
Little Big Planet PSN
Dead or Alive 5 plus PSVita
Dragon's CrownPSVita
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection PSVita
Persona 4 Golden PSVita
Gravity Rush PSVita
Dragon Force Saturn
Panzer Dragoon Saturn - both Saturn games for £57.10
Total: 17 games & 1 console: £363.24

Oh my, thats about half of my entire spend last year. I plan to take February and March off of buying for the most part to try and even out my spending a little here.

D&D was on a deal so I picked it up for Together Retro later in the year. I 'updated' another Wii Virtual Console game to Wii U VC. Getting a 60hz Contra game is a nice change to a 50hz Probotector. I expanded my Mega Drive collection with two cheapish games, both of which look like a quick fun blast. Both were from eBay and prices include postage. I picked up a bundle of GBC games too, mainly for Metal Gear Solid. I'll probably try the other 3 out and decide whether to keep them. I know Noise used to recommend Classic Creep Capers, so I'll give it a go, but the other 2 I'll probably end up selling off again. Again, eBay purchase, includes postage.

Then I bought my big purchase for the month - a PSVita with 7 games. I feel the games cover a good breadth of the Vita library and are all stuff I'd be interested in outside of a bundle, so I'm quite happy with it. Wish Tearaway was a physical copy though.

Lastly, picked up a game I've wanted pretty much since I got my saturn, Dragon Force. I got a reasonable price compared to it's going rate nowadays, and it came with a copy of Panzer Dragoon, which I already own, but can sell to make some money back.
