Yeah... at 30ish systems, I don't feel like having switch boxes daisy-chained together. It was annoying enough at half as many systems back in the day.CRTGAMER wrote:This emphasizes in leaving all consoles plugged in permanent using additional switch boxes if needed. Not only the fragile pins of SVideo, but also the stress of the cable at the connectors at both ends. That retro console cable might be hard to replace as years progress.
However, I feel you on the last sentence. That's one of several reasons I've been modding consoles to have standard RCA/S-Video connectors. Proprietary cables are way too difficult to replace sometimes.

Get switches that are remote controlled and you can control the entire setup with a nice universal remote. I've got a Harmony and it's set up with a "Play <console>" for everything I own, and it handles all the channel switching and switch settings.KalessinDB wrote:Yeah... at 30ish systems, I don't feel like having switch boxes daisy-chained together. Certainly reasonable to do that for my most commonly played half dozen, but *EVERYTHING* I own? Like I say, seriously 30+ systems. I have yet to find a switch that takes more than 6. And a large percentage of my systems are Component video, switches for that is priiiiicey.MrPopo wrote:Get switches that are remote controlled and you can control the entire setup with a nice universal remote. Harmony remotes *are* beautiful things though.

Smile: Since we're supposed to get a foot of snow today, my wife has the day off. However, it isn't snowing a bit so my wife is a bit frustrated as she thinks they could have called for a half day. Passionate about her job she is.
Big meeting for me today at 11am, and an even bigger meeting on Thursday, weather permitting. My crew really needs to hit the ground running, so I really hope we'll be meeting on Thursday.
Frown: My dog had the tummy gurgles this morning and didn't eat her breakfast. Isn't such a bad thing considering she didn't eat breakfast the first twelve years of her life.
Smile: Since my wife has the day off, she made a sausage gravy that was delicious. Biscuits weren't bad either.

I'd be very curious to find out how have 30+ systems. Are those distinct, or are there dupes (i.e. Genesis model 1, 2, 3). Here's my setup that puts 19 systems + my PC into my TV:KalessinDB wrote:Certainly reasonable to do that for my most commonly played half dozen, but *EVERYTHING* I own?
