Games Beaten 2014
Re: Games Beaten 2014
I need to finish Uncharted 3, beat 1 and 2, however they were great games imo, i cant see myself replaying them.
Re: Games Beaten 2014
I own Fallout 3, never really played it.
Looks like it would take 120 hours to complete. Back to my Genesis.

I beat Fallout 3 in 30 and New Vegas in 50. Didn't really rush anything, but definitely didn't try to do absolutely everything either. Think I had 110 on Skyrim.

Howlongtobeat.com is kind of killing my this-gen/last-gen/whatever gen the PS2 is gaming. Need to update my list as I've beaten dozens of Genesis games, but when I see "100 hours to beat, 140 to complete" my mind says "Maybe we'll save that gave for when you have an entire week with zero responsibilities".Xeogred wrote:I beat Fallout 3 in 30 and New Vegas in 50. Yes, and I'm sure I've beaten more. I need to check my camera to see the stills I took.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Wait so are those games you've beaten this year........?
I've also already started a new 82 game season on NHL 2002. And yes, I complain about not having time to play certain games and then start an 82 game regular season, but those games go by fast. I can pick up one game, move on to the next, and not miss anything. I've played Skyrim from the start a handful of times and got no where.

Games Beaten 2014
Primal Rage - 32X
Golden Axe - Genesis
To the Moon: Holiday Special - PC
Need for Speed: Rivals - PS4
Halo: Spartan Assault - Xbox One
Kolibri - 32X *new*
Total: 6
Games Beaten: 2013 2012 2011 2010
There's something funny about spending lots of quality time with my 32X the day after I got an Xbox One, but I'm taking part in a thread over on Sega-16 that CFFJR clued me in to and I am conscientious of getting so sucked into modern gaming that I neglect my goal of playing more old stuff this year - so I suppose I was compensating.
Kolibri is a game I've had for years and always spent my time with just screwing around on the first few levels and admiring the pretty graphics. The back half of the game (there are 20 levels) has a couple of massive stages and some punishing sections, and there's a lot more depth, challenge, and excellent design here than I ever gave the game credit for. Has anyone else here played very far into it or beaten it? Here's what I posted over on Sega-16:

They list Fallout 3 as taking around 26 hours to beat though, and the detailed information claims the average speedrun is under 6 hours. For a lot of people, it'd be around a 30-35 hour game, doing a few extra things they happen to find along the way to the next main story quest.Luke wrote: Howlongtobeat.com is kind of killing my this-gen/last-gen/whatever gen the PS2 is gaming. Personally, I see it as a more reliable number. Plenty of games with an hour or less listed likely require far more than that practicing to get to the point where you can actually beat them. At least, for us mere mortals.
By contrast, the Main Story times tend to line up fairly well with most of my actual experiences with games that save progress n' such.
I've tried to play Oblivion and Skyrim multiple times, and they don't keep my interest, despite the general genre being one I like. On the other hand, I tore right through Fallout 3 and New Vegas.I've played Skyrim from the start a handful of times and got no where.
Re: Games Beaten 2014
Yeah, Luke - F3 and Skyrim can both be done in more like 30-40 without feeling like you missed anything important.
Play Dragon Age instead, though. It's better than either.

Re: Games Beaten 2014
With time management in mind, 30-40n hours is like two months worth of gaming. When I pick up games like this, and only play for an hour at a time (this even applies to Arkham City) when I pick them back up where I left off, sometimes I have no clue where I am, what my current objective is, and sometime what buttons do what.dsheinem wrote:Yeah, Luke - F3 and Skyrim can both be done in more like 30-40 without feeling like you missed anything important.

Throwin' curveballs these new games do at me I tells ya. I'm making progress with Sleeping Dogs, but only for the fact that the GTA stylized controls are second nature to me and the missions are rather short.
Another issue is that if I have six or so hours to spend playing a game, I'm going to play games like Super Metroid, Ecco the Dolphin, and games of that ilk that are challenging, but beatable within one sitting (not counting bathroom breaks).
