Not usually.

My parents haven't answered their phone, nor have my Aunt and Uncle, cousins or Sister.

Calling my Grandma doesn't sound like a good idea in my mind. If the dog was taken away, she'll be heart broken and there is no need to twist the knife by asking "How's Smokie?".

My family wanting to make Grandmother happy and get her a companion has clouded their judgement. This is the worst "I told you so" in recent memory. Yes dogs are cute and great company, but they aren't toys. Frustrating.

On a positive note, I'm taking a half day to "cool off" a bit. As I told Noise, I'm overwhelmed and need to do nothing. Maybe a smoke and a brewski or two, but sometimes you need to just sit and think. Take a step back and put things into perspective. Reorganize and rejuvenate. And other things you would read about in Don't Sweat the Small Stuff.
I can totally understand that. Dogs are most certainly not toys, and they're work. For someone older, that can be very challenging. Especially if you have a younger dog that needs to burn out the energy.

Seems like you have a bit of a stacked deck right now Luke. Between ad revenue, some family stuff, etc. A brew and cigar wouldn't be too bad of an idea.

Smile: Wedding planning is going great. Lots of big things getting taken care of.

Crushed: Gramma's fight with cancer is getting the best of her. Looks like 4-6 weeks without treatment, and 8-12 with. My consistent outlook on this whole ordeal since August has been to continue to appreciate the moments I've had with her, focus on a few more, and make sure she's taken care of. That and reassuring myself that when the time comes, to reflect that these few months shouldn't be how I remember her, rather look back fondly on the countless moments I've had over the years with her. It's helpful that we're occupied with things, but I just wish there was more I could do for her.

Funny thing about that is that everybody has done it, but if someone forgets an attachment we're usually all "What an idiot".

Frown: Just got off the phone with my Cousin Stevie, and Grandmother is fine physically, but an emotional wreck as the dog has been taken back to the pound. Shockingly she couldn't take proper care of the dog.

So now my Grandmother is a mess and a dog has to go back to the pound. To quote the AVGN "What the Fuck were they thinking ?!?!"

This, as I unfortunately predicted, is a huge loss-loss situation for both parties. Grandma was so upset that my Uncle spent the night trying to comfort her.

Had a quick talk with Steve after he said "I thought it was a terrible idea too". I told him that we are at the age where we aren't kiddos anymore and that when he sees a bad decision being made to step up and say something. I tried my best to explain that he's my eyes and ears when it comes to all things Grandma, and that he needs to be the voice of reason.

He agreed, but not without a sigh and a "Well you know how my Father is..." to which I replied, "I know he is hard headed, but I've had to stand up to my Father and you and I both know he could squish me like a bug. You need to strongly and aggressively state your opinion before something like this happens again". I wasn't a jerky Mc poophead, but very sincere. Who could have thought that having a 90+ year old going out over six times a day in 15 degree weather (not including the windchill) would be a good idea?.

If you are still reading, my letting things out in the open is almost over. And not wax philosophical, but love brings the best and worst out of people. My Uncle's love for his Mother (understandable, of course) has led to his fear of losing her. He's not making the right decisions and he isn't thinking.

"THINK!" -My Father

These aren't shoot from the hip decisions. My family needs to think before doing anything like this again.

What a world.

:? Apparently no one here's thought to redact the young man's name.

:( Weeks after losing my nametag I still don't have it, but then again my mom hasn't gone to check the mail yet (because the post office is so far away, she only checks it once in a while). She goes up to check it on Thursday (her day off), but I work that day so I just hope she gets up there and back before I have to leave for work or else it's another day people seeing my loaner nametag without my actual name on it and thinking of me as "Chris from Orlando, FL" in lieu of "David from Outer Banks, NC".

Ticked - coworker came to the office sick today and now I am hacking up a lung. And I cant leave until four at the earliest due to it being our sales month end.
Smile - found a simple recipe for Italian style dough. Tomorrow we are going to try making it for a pizza from scratch.

Why would they redact the name when copied over from another public website?

Yeah...The arrest is public information; so, there is absolutely no need (or reason) to redact the name.

:( : The way my schedule's panning out, I might be working from the 23rd through the 1st... and that would leave me with one day off before my normal work cycle starts again. During that time I'm not allowed to drink. Also the base is switching ISPs during that same period so I may be without internet for a while.

:) : I'm going to see if I'm capable of growing a mustache.

Smile: Got my CCNA and CCNA Security certificates in the mail today. I know that these things must be lame for all you guys who are old hand at IT but it's kinda neat for me.

Frown: Having a lot of trouble studying things I need to study for my upcoming technical interview. I should be spending my time on load balancers and VPNs but instead Reddit happens. There's probably a meme for this problem.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Awesome to hear!!! Very cool of Russell Wilson.

If you're a Seahawks fan, I played high school football against Earl Thompson LOL... you can imagine how fun that was.
