I watched Drinking Buddies.... ending was kind of meh but it did revolve around a brewery which was kind of cool.

Last night I saw Dreamscape. With no real expectations going in, I quite enjoyed it. While I wish the plot would've been more focused on the conquering of nightmares without the political conspiracy, the plot as is was plenty interesting and engaging.

I watched Ender's Game the other night. I had the same problem with it that I did with the book: why do they place so much importance on these kids? The very premise of the story seems ludicrous to me. It was fun to see how they imagined the book's world to look though. Some nice special effects.

Having watched it recently for the first time, I agree completely. It is an excellent film, and it is arguably Truffaut's best work. That said, I enjoy some of his other films more, and I am excited to work my way through the rest of the "Doniel" saga on Hulu+. (The only other one I have seen is Stolen Kisses...which is great.)Nintendork666 wrote:Last night I watched my blu-ray copy of Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows

Every time I watch this movie I think I appreciate it just a little bit more, which is a good thing since I loved it after my first viewing. I'm not as enamored with the stylistic choices of the film, like I am with some French new wave stuff (aside from the exquisite final shot), but moreso engaged by the youthful rebellious spirit of the film. A classic for a reason, and one that sticks with you after viewing.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

I've seen every Schwarzenegger film between 1980-2000, and most of the ones that fall on either side of those two decades, but I've never really giving Stallone the same focus despite loving some of his work(Rocky and First Blood are excellent films, and Demolition Man is one of the best action films of the 1990s). So having recently sought out some of his other works, I finally sat down and watched Cop Land. It's mixed, with a bunch of characters that wander between excellent and cartoonish, but overall I thought this film about a partly disabled small-town sheriff fighting corruption in the NYPD worked quite well. And I gotta say, this is definitely one of Stallone's better performances. It's a shame his career suffered so much afterwards.

It's been a couple of months since I saw it, but what rape scene? I don't remember that.Luke wrote:DisagreeGamerforlife wrote:
Fickle people critics are.
Novelty wears off when there is nothing novel about it. KICK ASS wasn't violent just to be violent, but to establish the atmosphere and environment of where the characters lived. KICK ASS 2's violence was there for shock value and action scene filler.
That, and rape being used as comedic relief is bad form.
KICK ASS also appealed to a broader audience, and KICK ASS 2 basically appealed to boys.
Watched A NEW HOPE in the recently remodeled theater room. Cinematic perfection that movie is.

This discussion is probably lost somewhere in the forum, but there's an attempted rape scene that was in focus groups, wasn't in others, was in screenings, wasn't in others, etc.Stark wrote: It's been a couple of months since I saw it, but what rape scene? I don't remember that.
I asked a member if the attempted rape scene made his early theatrical cut and I believe he said yes.
