Ah, see, I read it as "I don't like this game because it is easy" and felt the remark about 5 year olds was meant to be taken as condescending. My defensiveness was more a response to your perceived insult. I apologize for having misread it.
That said, I still don't think a game should be judged purely on difficulty. Pit-Fighter on the SNES has a character with a one-frame attack, which does make the game considerably easier. But it's a poor game not for that difficulty but for a myriad of other reasons. Meanwhile, Cliffhanger is hard, but here the difficulty stems from its poor quality, not the other way around. On the flip side, Mickey and Minnie in the Great Circus Mystery is a good easy game, and The Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is a set of very hard games that are still perceived as very good.

Not every retro gamer has to be a collector. It doesn't matter how you play them.mas wrote:I have been reading this thread for a while and even though I actually own the system or games I play the snes through my xbox. I have been playing final fight 3. It's a fun game. Does it count if I play romsthru my xbox or do I need the original system and games to write on this thread? I do know how people hate roms and emulators.

Thank you gunster. I feel a lot better now. I do miss my systems and would love to get them back but my promise to myself is to collect dreamcast. Everything else i have is on my xbox and i own a 360. I think out of all the beat em ups for me batman returns is something i always love to play. I need to play the two spiderman beat em up games this weekend.

Playing through the Lost Levels on Super Mario All Stars for kicks. It's just been so long since I've played through any Classic Mario game.. And challenge is like a turn on for me. Seriously, I'll play a game just because it's hard. It's like a strange video game fetish. I called it a night after getting stuck on 8-4. I'll beat it after work tomorrow.
I've also just started playing through Terranigma, and wiped out that first dungeon earlier today! It's a solid RPG, but it's just not gripping me as much as I wish it would.

Just wait. It will grip you in ways you never thought possible. It's a travesty that we never got it in North America. I played it years ago and was just taken back by everything about it.kidfresh wrote:I've also just started playing through Terranigma, and wiped out that first dungeon earlier today! It definitely takes a bit of time to get going; the beginning of the game is more of a tutorial on the combat system; once you've got that done the real game start.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Got a few SNES repro carts in the mailbox today, was quite shocked because I never ordered Starfox 2. So I'm not sure if it was an accident or if the guy did it as an apology for taking so long and me being so understanding. I ordered Star Ocean like back in August or September from Gamereproductions.com guy said he was just super swamped and I said don't worry I trust him and I kind of just forgot about it. I should take pics of all my SNES repros, I bought them all together to save money so it works out to be like $35 per cart even the Star Ocean.
Funny story about the Star Fox 2 cart, it actually didn't work when I got it today. But when I opened it up I noticed two of the pins on the chip that was rewired were actually touching and causing a bridge, so I just bent it a little bit so it wasn't touching anymore and it works like a charm now.

Those are very nice - I have a repro cart of Secret of Mana 2 and am quite pleased with it. I plan on buying Terranigma, Bahamut Lagoon, and Star Ocean in the near future.

I still need my Bahamut Lagoon and Fire Emblems translated. And bah to you philistines who say Secret of Mana 2, it's Seiken Densetsu 3!
