Super Gaming Marathons

I'm thinking about taking on some pretty hefty tasks in gaming right now. My main idea is to play through an entire company's game catalog from their first to their latest. The only problem is I'm not sure which one to go with. Some big contenders are Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, and SNK. What do you think?

... i think you will be sitting in front of that television for a very long time. For me a "Super Gaming Marathon" is finishing a game in a night... provided i can even finish the game w/ my attention span.

I think you're crazy. I'd suggest maybe going for a series first, like you'd been discussing with Street Fighter. Just think about what all you'd have to go through just with Capcom. No way. Just tracking all of that down would be a pain. Plus, how are you going to handle ports and updates? Which Resident Evil would you play? Which Resident Evil 2? Which RE4? Way too many possibilities.

Still, if you're interested in one, why not go for every game put out by X company on X console? This way you wouldn't have to worry about tracking down everything from Atari to today for some of these guys, and you can still play some awesome games.

I am working my way through the Ultima series. I'm only on II right now, so the best is yet to come. Origin has a relatively small catalog, so it would be pretty easy to play them all. Lots of good games though, Ultima series, Wing Commander series. System Shock, Bioforge, autoduel, etc.

Did you play through Ultima 0? Also, what are you gonna do about Ultima Online, Hatta?

You mean Akalabeth? Talk about a beast of a game.

Ive done some of these marathons. If you take it a couple months to do it properly, and keep a log of it, it can make for an interesting story.

OK, I'm not going through all of the games at once, that's crazy. I'm thinking more along the lines of a Together Retro kind of deal. I just thought it would be interesting to see how a gaming company develops through the ages. I'll probably go with a much smaller company than the ones I listed first. I sort of tested my idea today with SNK. They had a lot of mediocre games.

Top Heavy Games? Nah, just kidding.

What about Human Entertainment? They folded in 1999, so no chance you'll be playing through titles and miss something that just came out. You'll have to search for some of their games, as they spread them from the NES to the PC Engine to the PS1. They're most known in the states for the Clocktower series.
