DuckTales: Remastered is not easy

Post by marurun »

The first boss kicked my butt on my first pass through. Will have to replay the first level (not at all hard) to take another go at the first boss (much harder than the level). At least if he's only the midboss the actual level boss won't be as hard (them's the rules, yo).

what? Really? I found it easier than the original. I beat it in two sittings with very little problem.

the only issue i have with this game is too much talking (storyline). other than that it's a great remake.

Noise be cruel... Pickin' on my lack of master-level skillz...

It was quite literally my first play, and I'm playing on medium (not easy, the default). I am using the easy pogo mechanics, though. The level was no problem, but the boss was hard, and it's 3 hits you're down.

maru, my bad. Have you played much of the original? I played the original a ton growing up. So this seemed a lot easier to me.

Like a lot of NES era games, I think it's not so much hard, just cheap. There's a lot of trial and error and memorization that I had to go through before I beat it. I don't really go for that sort of design anymore(in fact I frequently criticize that sort of thing in modern games), but I understand this is a remake of an 8-bit game so it didn't bother me that much

yeah again, I think just being familiar with the original made this one a cakewalk.

I read there is a patch now for the PSN version at least that now allows you to skip the cut scenes. I beat it in three sittings,
the escape was brutal
, too so I have not played since to know if that is true.

I did play, and beat (after much trying) the original. But it's been a long time. I'm better at FPS games and fighters than when I was younger, but I had more patience for platformers when I was a kid. Still, enjoying the crap out of this game, and did just discover how to skip cinematics.

patch? I don't know about PSN/XBLA, as I played it on Steam, but cut-scenes were always skippable there. Just pause during a cutscene, and first option is Skip.

the escape was brutal
,
I actually forgot about that part. Yeah. That was easily the hardest part of the game. Must have taken me like 6 lives to pull it off, whereas I breezed thru most levels on a single life.
