The only Texas station that carries her is out of Abilene. We used to get Alice Cooper's show on 99.5 out of San Antonio and it covered a bit of metal, but nowadays they don't have it here, only in El Paso or somewhere way off the radar.

Is that so? Heh, so Abilene does have something.

I just learned that a new Black Sabbath album came out in 2013 with Ozzy doing vocals a few minutes ago. I can't believe I had no idea about this. I've got the full album up on Youtube right now and I'm a bit overwhelmed with delight. Must purchase.

The Devil You Know was much better than 13. :(

There so different to me that I can't really compare them the two. 13 is very close to the classic Ozzy Sabbath I grew up listening to, so it has a lot of nostalgic value.

While I do thoroughly enjoy the Dio albums, there are an entirely different beast to me. Also, I just just learned about Dio's death.

EDIT: Wait, I'm confused. I read The Devil You Know as the Sabbath album Heaven and Hell.

DOUBLE EDIT: Oh, wait. I know what I did. The album The Devil You Know by Heaven and Hell. Arggh.

I'm not sure what I think of Black Sabbath's 13. On one hand, it's a new Sabbath album with their classic sound. On the other, everything on that album has been done before by either another Metal band or Sabbath themselves. The songs don't really rub me either way so I'm just sort of stuck in the middle of the road going: "Eh, it's a new Black Sabbath album."

Is it wrong that when I hear 13, I first think of the Megadeth album?

My issue is that the classic "Sabbath" sound is kinda just this amalgamation of the first two or three albums, despite the fact that pretty much ALL of the Ozzy era albums (and the post-Ozzy stuff too, heck their whole career really) were pretty distinct and even experimental, especially the stuff on Sabotage and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Sabbath to me has always been a forward thinking band always looking to expand their sound and try new things. Hearing such a "safe" sounding album from them feels like a big disappointment.

if 13 had come out in 1979, it would have ruled. as it is it's just a little too polished and ozzy's vocals come across way to prevalent (and way too weak) in the mix to make it a truly enjoyable listen all the way through. but the riffs are huge and the songs aren't bad. i just think that it's just too little, too late. though i'm glad they did it, i do totally agree with you that it's a very "safe" record. you could say the same thing about "The Devil You Know" being just a rehash of Heaven & Hell and Mob Rules, but it's at least a more enjoyable listen.

what do you guys think of the iommi solo records? i've only heard the first one (the one with multiple guest musicians/vocalists) and it's alright.

That's a good point. This diminishes my plus for the album a bit but I still don't really think poorly of the album. I guess I'm in a spot where I know the album isn't that good but I still give it a pass.

While I haven't been keeping up with what the Sabbath members have been doing in the past few years (with the exception of a little Ozzy), I didn't really expect 13 to have much originality.

It would've been way better than Never Say Die.

I haven't heard them, but I really need to (and Geezer too) since I LOVE their style in the early Sabbath albums.
