I've never heard about UK or Germany being particularly big about comics, where as France and Belgium are known as big producers (third biggest after US and Japan)
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Not counting Japan's Manga craze, I'd say the U.K. is the biggest supporter of comic books outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Judge Dredd was a U.K. comic. Marvelman, V for Vendetta, Captain Britain, 2000 A.D., were all U.K. comics. Marvel even had their own U.K. imprint. Many of the top comic writers today started in England, such as Alan Moore and Grant Morrison.

Well, I knew the UK was big for comics. On Germany, I just kind of assumed that because I've found a ton of German sites and such in relation to Conan comics. (I guess Conan is a pretty big thing for them.)

Justice League #26...what a rip-off! It clearly has Sinestro, on the cover, the regular cover, not some alternate cover. And he isn't even mentioned once in the entire comic! That's the entire reason I bought it!

Almost all of the Forever Evil covers are false like that one.
I am hating how over-the-top evil DC (Johns) is being in this series, but this one had my favorite Crime Syndicate origin - Power Ring.

***SPOILERS AHEAD****

So Sinestro shows up on the final page of the latest issue. Awesome, I'm a huge GL fan and Sinestro is just a freaking bad-ass and knows it. And even cooler, it looks like he's still bonded to the Parallax entity.

But what I don't understand is what the heck he's doing on Earth. Why does he care at all that the Crime Syndicate is taking over Earth? There's nothing there to connect him to Earth. You may be thinking, "Maybe he's looking for some payback on Hal Jordan again." Maybe, but he wouldn't be on Earth to do that. Hal Jordan is in space, leading the GL Corps after The Guardians were killed by Sinestro. And Sinestro knows that, because he was there when it all went down.

The answer to all of your questions is that Geoff Johns feels he has to write large company wide crossovers and include every character.
While I loved the man's work on Rebirth and JSA, since he has become one of the head honchos at DC his "epic" crossover events are out of control and mess with too many regular books. Blackest Night was cool and all, but if you were not reading it it messed with your regular books, this is no different. It's hard to read Wonder Woman, Superman (and Action Comics), the Batman books and especially one of my favorite character - Nightwing's regular books. In the regular books there is no mention of any of this and everything is still par for the course for each character -
no mention of being trapped in Firestorm, the Crime Syndicate or even Nightwing being unmasked in public.
Geoff Johns has become an average writer at best. All of his books now need to feel "epic" and span multiple issues, or mini-series, and each have "end of the world" consequences. It's too much and way over-the-top... I hate to say it - either WB is mandating this or Geoff's head has gotten too big.

Geoff Johns is an average writer at best?! BWAAAA HAAA HA HAAA HAAA!!!!

That's good. That's one of the most hilarious things I've heard in a long time. Thank you.

He just completely made Green Lantern a book that sold on par with X-Men and Batman books for years on end. He completely reinvigorated the JSA, a team that before his touch was a relic of the past. And he made one of the greatest crossovers in the last couple of decades: Infinite Crisis. But he's average, yeah.

He's EASILY one of the best comic writers in the last decade or so.

I'm glad you not reading what I posted correctly was one of the funniest things you have heard in a long time.

If you reread my post I did not say he is the worst but instead "Geoff Johns has become an average writer at best." It is my opinion that his talent peaked and has declined. We are allowed to have different opinions, and one should not chastise another because of it. Also in my post, I did state that his Green Lantern run, specifically Rebirth, and his JSA was great... these are the same titles you are using to prove that he is a good writer and are the same titles that I gave him credit for. I also loved Flashpoint, but many others who dislike the New52 would not agree with me. I liked most of his Aquaman run, I'll admit that I am bias since I am a HUGE Aquaman fan and LOVED the "Throne of Atlantis" story, but his need to make epic crossovers annoy me.

To restate my opinion that must not have been clear before: Johns' skill has declined (in my opinion, which I am entitled to have) and most of his current books move at a snails pace. I am not saying he is a bad writer, I just think he is not as good as he used to be which was one of the best in 2000s... Maybe you do too since you also cited work that was from a 2000 (JSA), 2004 (the start of his run on GL) and 2005 (Infinite Crisis).

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I can not stand people who belittle others for having an opinion, especially one that is well formed with factual evidence.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, I don't believe I said you weren't. But it's crazy, still. Geoff Johns is one of the most successful, popular, and reinvigorating writers of our time in comics. He had long-lasting, successful runs on all of these titles, even turning many previously dying series into top-tier titles.

-Aquaman
-Flash
-Forever Evil
-Green Lantern
-Infinite Crisis
-JSA
-Justice League

To say Geoff Johns is average is akin to saying Alan Moore or Roy Thomas is average. Did you really expect to say something like that, and just get away with it without somebody saying something?
