Really? They called the L the subway? The L is the opposite of a subway.

Not only that, but the interior of the train was not an L train and they didn't even get the L signs right. It's as if they thought no one who has ever been to Chicago would see their movie.

It's an insult to intelligence on so many levels, and that was only the first 30 seconds of the movie. 9% on rotten tomatoes. No surprise.

Oh, that's nothing. The amount of movies supposedly set in Texas that are shot with mountains and saguaro cacti is depressingly high. There's also a ton of movies showing areas that are shown all green and pretty, that are in actuality desert or near always dead grass.

Any one enjoy TV movies?

I remember those used to be a thing back in the 80's up to mid 90's . I hardly hear of them any more. I have something for obscure things, but none the less, they were not bad to be honest.

We now have independent cinema and filmmakers from all over, so it's definitely better. Now the fun's in discovering those little TV gems on DVD.

Narrated by everyone's favourite faux-russian-character actor Brian Cox, this documentary was among the first (?) of several colourised programmes showcasing the intensity and brutality of WWII.

Accurate review of 47 RONIN, from someone who seems to be a fan of the original mythology:

I still think this movie will have a strong base of fans. I'm not one of them, but I can see some people loving it. What's in the trailer is what you get. People who want to see this will like it, people who don't will hate it.

That review is basically what I was expecting from the trailer.

Yup. The movie is two hours of what is shown in the trailer. A cluster of cgi mess, beautiful "sets", and Keanu as a nearly indestructible samurai. Again, I'm not familiar with the "original" story, but I knew what I was getting myself into. The trailer straight up says "this isn't going to be good but has lots of stuff to look at".

Visiting the in-laws this weekend and they want to go to the theater. The movie they want to see, WALKING WITH DINOSAURS. I'm going to do everything possible to talk them into seeing AMERICA HUSTLE or THE WOLF OF WALL STREET*, but I know we'll end up seeing whatever they want to.

To be 100% honest I'm not sure if I want to see WOLF OF WALL STREET as I'm guessing it will be another paint by the number Marty Movie. Not a fan of Jonah Hill as an actor or as a human being and I bet dollars to donuts that all it is is GOODFELLAS set in the 80's:

Voice over talks about his shitty life, turns it around and becomes super successful, screws it up, throw in some shock scenes, roll credits. Nothing against marvelous Marty, but as of now I doubt he'll bring anything new to the table.
