Weather predictions here rarely come true in the winter time but i wouldn't argue about staying home either. I had to still go to work during that dam flood 3 yrs ago.fastbilly1 wrote:Ticked - Icestorm tonight.
Smile - Boss said I get to work from home tomorrow. Which makes two days in a row I get to sleep in.

It was a damn flood:Jmustang1968 wrote:Was it a flooded dam or a damn flood?

I keep forgetting you live here Stickem. I really need to get a meetup setup up here.

They actually opened the dams or it would've flooded downtown nashville even worse. Which in turn flooded everything surrounding too.Jmustang1968 wrote:Was it a flooded dam or a damn flood?stickem wrote:Weather predictions here rarely come true in the winter time but i wouldn't argue about staying home either. "I need your body."
"I need you to help me move some tables. You're the only other person in the office who isn't old and decrepit."
"Oh, okay. Just as long as it's not something lewd."

I 've only noticed 1 other person in this area. Which doesn't surprise me as its a bitch to find anything retro gaming in this area besides 4 stores and a crappy flea market.fastbilly1 wrote:It was a damn flood:Jmustang1968 wrote:Was it a flooded dam or a damn flood?

Tonight was certainly something. I didn't know what to expect, and I would have never expected an open bar and carving stations. I shit you not, the open bar served Moet Imperial. I know they buy in bulk, but that's still close to fifty bucks a bottle.
And that meeting was a riot. Over a hundred people talking as loudly as possible. When I met with people I had to ask "Want to go outside for a minute and chat?" because it was shoulder to shoulder within a half hour from the start of the event.
Everything went swimmingly and by the end of the event I had a stack of business cards nearly an inch thick. I need to add that almost everyone who attended was polite, engaging, and interested in what I'll bring to the council (hell if I know, but lip service worked). Only downside is that now I'm a committee guy now. "You should join the small business association", "You should join the Rotary Club", etc.
And it's not a downside, but for the first time in a while I felt like a kid. Not the "Woo-Hoo! I feel like a kid again!" feeling, more like "I'm surrounded by people twice my age" feeling.
No gavel, no weird drinking of blood ceremony, but I did get a name tag.
