That's the first time I've ever seen Tool referred to as Nu Metal. Which in turn breaks my heart. They are my all time favorite band. I've been a fan since '93 when I saw "Sober" on Head Bangers Ball. Deftones are also up there as one of my favorites.BurningDoom wrote:"Nu"-Metal bands I actually enjoyed (some of the bands labelled as Nu-Metal by many, really aren't, though. Nu-Metal has a distinct hip-hop influence):
-Chevelle
-Coal Chamber (I haven't actually heard them in years, though)
-Deftones
-Disturbed
-Mudvayne
-The Murderdolls (Another one I haven't heard in years)
-Sevendust
-Slipknot
-Tool
One band that typically get's referred to as Nu Metal is System of a Down, which I don't understand. They have next to no Hip Hop influence. I guess it is just because they were a new sound that wasn't captured in any other metal genre, so they just lumped them in with Limp Bizkit.
Side note: I got to see Deftones and System of a Down last summer in DC. It was pretty amazing.
