Ticked - Having to put up with all the armchair coaches about the Auburn Alabama game last weekend at work. Since I am the only Auburn fan in the office. Whats funny is the only person who went to Alabama in the office and I are the only two who dont really care. But since we went to the schools everyone wants to tell me how we should have lost and tell her how stupid they were for kicking.

Smiled - Finished punching out Ogre DE and organized most of the bits.

Ticked - Came in to a solid hour of doing the same two things over and over for different customers at the same site - due to a stupid issue in the computer.

BIG SMILE: I've been asked to be a councilman for our city's chamber of commerce. Do councilmen get gavels? I really want a gavel. I should have asked about the gavel situation before accepting the position because I really want to get paid to hold a gavel. Is it even a paid position? I don't know, never asked. This is why I shouldn't drink coffee.

I've also been asked to help a fundraiser for the family of Art Museums in the state of NC, which is a position I was more than happy to accept. Social media campaigns, SEO, all that good stuff. But no gavels with this one. Still, it's an incredible opportunity to rub elbows with the super affluent. And I bet the super affluent own gavels. Maybe they'll let me borrow one of their gavels if I don't get one as a councilman. This is why I shouldn't drink coffee.

Luckily I don't have to run for office, apparently I've been "accepted". And no worries, I checked gavelfactory.com and they have plenty of gavels on the cheap. I also have a meat pounder that looks like a huge shiny gavel, so I could make believe it's a gavel. My induction is tomorrow, so hopefully someone will be taking pictures.

What suit to wear? What tie to wear? Cufflinks or no? Tie clip yes, maybe pass on the cufflinks. Lapel pin? Ditch the watch? This is why I shouldn't drink coffee.

Chamber of Commerce...I think a monocle, bowler hat, pocket watch, chain, cufflinks, tie clip, three piece suit, and cigarette with holder would be appropriate. (Basically, you should strive to look a cross between Henry Hatsworth and The Penguin.)

Whatever you do, dont ditch the watch. It allows you to check the time without looking like a prick checking it on your phone during an important meeting.

I do have a pocket watch...But no. I'll swap out the cigarette with a pile of cigars in my coat pocket to share with everyone. I also look better in a top hat than in a bowler (It's a Bloomin' Topper!).

No worries, my phone is usually in airplane mode and I would never check it during a meeting.

That said, watches are actually out of style right now. I love my watch, but wearing an expensive watch these days is considered tacky. I don't make the rules.

When have I ever known you not to jump at the occasion to wear a nice set of cufflinks?
