I don't know, I didn't think they did that poor of a job. I've never read the comics and that's exactly how I took it.

Governor finds new family and becomes Brian.
Brian and family fall in with new group and settle into being a part of it.
Martinez offers Brian power and Brian flips out because he doesn't want to go down that road again.
Brian sees the group falling apart so tries to escape with his new family but it doesn't work out. (I thought this part was crap. I didn't really get why they couldn't get away.)
Brian decides that the only way to keep them safe is to take over power.
Brian sees new daughter almost become zombie food and decides they need the prison.

I don't see his return to the prison as a "revenge" thing so much as something he wants to protect his new family. He is perfectly happy to kill those already there as an added benefit though.

Its not necessarily bad in and of itself, but the setup was way to obvious. GamerForLife essentially said my thoughts, and overall I'm tired of them doing this looping thing with the comics. Go a seperate direction, or don't. Hell, we went through, what, a whole season including the governor doing some weird ass shit just so we can do what was expected anyways? Come on now.

I think the cabin scene is kind of brilliant. It tells you everything you need to know about the governor. Some of it even referring a bit more to comic book governor

Liar
Rapist
murderer

Then we see the decapitated zombie heads, then the family picture, then a man who shot himself, which is what the governor really should do to himself

Loved that scene. It said a lot of things in a sort of arty way

I have a bad feeling that Carl's days are numbered. Maybe Glenn as well.

How come the brother, the one who took over the camp for the episode, did not come back as a walker?

He died from being stabbed / strangled, when the Governor chucked him in the lake he had not visible head trauma.
EDIT: Should finish the episode before typing haha  But even so, why did it take so long to turn, it seems a few seconds to almost instant, yet this was a pretty lengthy bit of time.

Carl's not going anywhere

I have some predictions, but they are based on the assumption that they take this in the same direction as the books, which I don't know if they will. Though the sneak peak they showed on Chris Hardwick's Talking Dead plays out exactly like a scene from the comic books...so I found that interesting.

I don't know if they have the balls to following the direction the comic book took the governor's story

There...I said it. I'm waiting for this show to show us that it still has a set. I hope tonight's episode does that.

I don't think they will go totally comic book on this, for other reasons:
(comic based spoilers)
All the actors that would have to go... Although I do think they would have a hard time convincing the network to let them kill off the baby.
Though, I would be really surprised if they went that route, and would be quite impressed honestly.

49 minutes in, and it's pretty much going in the comic direction, but yeah that last part you mentioned. They probably won't go there

You've officially got no legs to stand on with this argument. The beheading scene hit even harder, the baby killing was there (and worse really), and the entire thing pretty much went along with the comic and was as brutal. Game over. If anything, the show has a bigger sack of nuts.
