Likewise, I also recently purchased Kendo Rage, Alisia Dragoon, and Super Valis IV (I know it's subpar for the series, but I don't have an NEC console, and it was complete for like $9).

Really, not even Super C? I found Super C to be a bit easier than its predecessor when I last played.
Well I've been playing Contra for about 23 years...... Super C for about.... 3 maybe? I just need to sink some time into it.

I find Super C harder honestly. I needed the 30 lives coded when I started playing Contra on an actual NES system, as opposed to emulator when I was in college (to be fair, I started playing both games on emulator, and I actually owned Super C for a good year and a half on the NES before I ever got Contra). Eventually I got to where I didn't need it, and the last time I played Contra, I beat it on maybe 10 lives (no 30 lives code, just building up lives after killing enemies and also continuing once), and then played it again right afterwards. I beat it again on 2 lives.

I've yet to beat Super C without a code (which is only a 10 lives code).

But here's the thing. Contra III is easier than both games, for me at least, because I've played it more often than the other 2.....until you get to hard mode. On hard mode, it's more difficult than Contra and Super C. The farthest I've ever gotten on Contra III hard mode was the beginning of level 5, and that's with a friend. I've never gotten farther than level 3 by myself. Oh and getting to level 5 with a friend, that was with both of us under the influence of a lot of vodka and beer.

Contra III on hard mode is cake until the final 3rd form of the boss going up the shaft after you get on the helicopter to escape. THAT is pretty badass.

I can stand PR. Unless you try to get a copy of their game to review, then they're a giant pain. What annoys me in particular about him is that he tries so hard to be this relateable hipster/gamer. I like Shuhei Yoshida, Jack Trenton and Andy House much more. They have they the perfect amount of serious and relateable.

I beat Super C yesterday using all of my continues. I had to spend a couple of hours replaying the game today to get my 1CC. I guess I was wrong in thinking that it was easier that Contra since I had to actually work the get my 1CC. As for Contra 3, I'm not sure if I'm going to play Contra 3 in Hard Mode or not. Perhaps I'll play through Normal first and then play Hard if I find Normal too easy. I don't think I'll be trying to 1CC this in either mode since I remember Contra 3 being harder than the previous two titles.

A more random thought: I did a quick search and apparently the only difference between Truxton's difficulty options is the number of credits alotted. I'mma Hard Mode this bitch!

:? <- that feeling when you've just beaten a game, but you also recently posted in the Games Beaten thread so aren't sure whether you should post again so soon.
