Really? Both Asylum and City got Game of the Year. So me and Gamerforlife are far from alone on it.
They are both good series. One is not "better" than the other; you cannot be "wrong" about taste; and there really is no point in arguing over it.
Personally, I think that the MGS series offers more challenging and dynamic gameplay that requires me to approach the games' obstacles creatively. The gameplay in Arkham Asylum, at least, is more accessible, but not nearly as compelling. The game did, however, offer a better, simpler story, more interesting characters, incredibly fun - if not partiularly difficult - combat, and absolutely fantastic atmosphere.
Basically, I love both series for different reasons, and I do not - nor is it necessary for me to - love one more than the other.
