I love trivia like this, and GameFAQs.com is great for tracking down this sort of information.ExedExes wrote:Going back to that developer/publisher discussion, many games on the NES never had a developer credit, especially earlier releases. Just the other day I found that Compile (known for their shmups) developed Lunar Pool on the NES (published by FCI/Pony Canyon). You're not gonna see that on the box or in the game.

To make it more confusing, you frequently had developers back then subcontracting to other, even smaller developers.

Yup. Like when you look at something like this you'll notice that Falcom, the original developer of Ys, isn't even mentioned at all. This is because they handed over the DS port to a completely different company (Interchannel-Holon), and then Atlus published.AppleQueso wrote:To make it more confusing, you frequently had developers back then subcontracting to other, even smaller developers.

i think that's a bit different when dealing with ports of already-released games on modern systems.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Yup. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That's true. Just the first thing I thought of though. Given my extremely unhealthy Falcom obsession.

I'm proud of you. The first step is always admitting you have a problem.BoneSnapDeez wrote:....Given my extremely unhealthy Falcom obsession.

I take back everything I said about not getting a PS4/Xbox One. Tried a PS4 yesterday and I was VERY impressed. Will be trying out the Xbox One on Saturday.
Chances are, I'll probably end up with the PS4, the redesigned controller, despite how it looks is a welcomed change, I loved the DS1/2, but hated the Sixaxis/DS3 (to me they felt a lot different) The moment I held the PS4 controller, it felt like a blend of the Xbox 360 controller and the DS3. The triggers are somewhat strange at first but once you start playing, they are extremely comfortable. All of the buttons are moved slightly inward, and feel much better than the previous controllers. The buttons provide a nice click, the dpad feels more solid and is easy to use, overall it is a huge upgrade. Good job Sony, you sold me on the PS4 from the controller alone.

I'm trying to complete my remaining console games before buying anymore and among my DS games I have Contra 4. I've had that game for nearly six years and I still haven't beaten it. Then again, I haven't touched it since probably the start of the decade. Since Contra has a bit of a learning curve, I thought I'd play through Contra, Super C, and Contra 3: The Alien Wars to prepare myself for Contra 4.
I started with Contra yesterday and was slowly getting back into my "Contra Groove". I played it again today, beating it, and ended up 1CCing it.
I hadn't played the original Contra or Super C for years and I was only trying to beat it. I didn't even notice until I got to the final stage. There, it hit me: "Holy shit, I didn't use a single continue. If I play my cards right, I might be able to 1CC this game." I ended up beating the stage with three lives to spare. I know it's not much to 1CC Contra, but considering the low bar I set for myself, I think I did pretty good.
Now, let's see if I can do the same with Super C.

Very cool. I've never tried it, because I always use the 30 men cheat.GSZX1337 wrote:I'm trying to complete my remaining console games before buying anymore and among my DS games I have Contra 4. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So random gaming though, how awesome is it to be at the end of the a generation? Three things I'm excited about:
1. The best last gen games are coming out now, some I've already played. Some of the greatest titles of a generation come out right towards the end
2. There's never been a better time to fill out your collection. Prices on last gen games are bound to drop.
3. There's never been a better time to get started on back logs too, as releases for this ending generation gradually slow down. If you can't afford a PS4/Xbox One or even a WiiU, it's PS3/360/Wii backlog time!
