As some one who is a supporter of PS4 this generation , I am not really that excited. The console is almost just a graphic update which is much less noticable than N64 -> NGC or PS2 -> PS3 9(which also had wifi, Bluray, online gaming, downloadable content, hard-drive,wireless controllers, HD) . I feel the PS4 is more of an upgrade than totally something new.

Maybe I have to see it to feel it, but I have been told those with PCs already are enjoying better graphics...

And PS1 and PSP. And then there's PC, which is a nightmare unlike any other.
Do they still ship PC games to retailers? I haven't seen those in a very long time , I thought everyone just downloads. Steam sounds like it has 90% of the PC market.

There's a PC game section at the majority of retailers. It's usually pretty small though, the one where I work is stuffed away by the "discount" game section and is comprised almost entirely of casino/poker type games, Blizzard stuff, and The Sims.

Me too. I have to work tomorrow, so I don't want to be dead to the world trying to fix network problems  I can wait until I get off. Then it will be PS4, Mt Dew, Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos, and killing Helghasts (I'm not sure what the plural of Helghast is) all night.
I can't recall which of you people are on my PSN friends list, but given the small % of that list that will have a PS4 tomorrow, we should make sure we've all added one another and jump into some multiplayer stuff in Killzone, COD, Resogun, or whatever else we might share...

"dsheinem" is my username there, too
is there ps3/ps4 cross-play with Cod?

They usually have the latest COD and BF titles too, along with Age of Empires 3 for whatever reason.

Don't forget the games that are literally an empty case with a download code inside. WTF is the point of that?

I'm surprised at this.

I've never been more underwhelmed (a bit of a contradiction) by a console(s if you count the xbone) launch. I felt like I had to get a Wii even when it was first announced. I'm very Stan Marsh or Lisa Simpson-esque when it comes to the newest gen of consoles.

Maybe it's all the negative chatter about both consoles that seems to permeate the internet, but both consoles seem to have the absence of hype. It's as if both consoles share the marketing tag line of "It's new".

My PSN name is frag_mortuus.

As far as the PS4 not seeming like a full new experience and more of an upgrade. I have been reading a lot about the UI and various features. IMO, the graphics are significantly better (I believe that seeing them in action is where people will get blown away), however, the systems capabilities are what I find really exciting. Being able to switch apps on the fly is awesome. Swapping between a game and an FAQ if you get stuck, or a show on Netflix and a game while you are waiting for the next match to start is really nice. I am really disappointed in the lack of DLNA support, but from what I've read, Sony already has their engineers working on it after seeing the huge amount of backlash that created. The ability to play games while they download is such a huge and welcome change over the PS3 that I can't express how much I will love this feature. I don't know. I guess it all depends on what you want out of a system to make it seem worth your money.

I am pretty underwhelmed over the games, but I know they are coming soon. So, I went ahead and bit the bullet.

If they want to just sell download codes, they could go with prepaid cards or something(think the wii points and psn cards you can buy).

Actually sticking it in a full size case, taking up valuable retail shelf space, just to house a little paper inside is dumb.

Yup.

Something I find interesting is that many of the PS4 launch titles are also coming out on the PS3/Xbox 360. I wonder how different the 8th gen version will be vs. 7th gen.

It seems like we're almost plateauing in terms of console technology. While a PS4 is obviously more "advanced" than a PS3 it's not in any way I find tangible or interesting. I remember when a new gen of consoles meant something completely new - there was no way Mario 64 could have existed on the SNES, for example.

I'm sure I'll get a PS4 eventually - but it will be completely contingent on the strength of the game library. The console itself doesn't do anything for me, then again - neither did the PS3.

But to all you launch day guys........... have fun!
