It is good to have an opinion from outside. I still prefer to err on the side of caution as much as possible.

If I'm reading a book, I'd rather it be from nice white (more reflective) pages than a yellowed (less reflective) copy if possible.

*edit*

Just for reference, from that page about the lesser reflectivity of CDRs versus pressed CDs.

(This is why many CD players cannot reliably play CD-R's as they have between 60% and 80% reflectivity of a normal CD)

Good articles posted here. I got the Dreamcast working again. I just had to keep turning the potentiometer until I found the sweet spot. I bought a 100 pack of Taiyo Yuden discs and I'm only using RDC releases from here on out.

On a separate note when people say they keep the Dreamcast mechanical parts greased up what are they talking about? As far as I can tell nothing is greased in my Dreamcast. It uses plastic gears which as far as I know shouldn't have anything put on them. I'd imagine they'd start slipping if you did.

I thought the "greasing" was just to help get rid of DC's god-awful noise?

So after you posted that I searched around and decided to put some all purpose machine oil on the Dreamcast's moving parts and wow it is so much quieter now. The DC has gone from not working at all to working better than it has in years in the span of a couple days.

hi guys , let me throw something into this...............

i also was into burning slow as possible but one day i happened to stumble on a thread at Club MyCE where it says burning slow on todays burners will actually produce shit burns.

so i decided to do more investigating , basically with older burners burning slow is the way but newer burners things have changed.

theres a app called ' Nero CD-DVD Speed ' and a tab in it called Disc Quality , if i burn a CD-R at X8 speed i get a certain amount of C1/C2 errors. If i burn at X16 the amount is reduced significantly , also if i burn at X24 or X32 it goes higher the sweet spot is X16 on my Liteon's.

now to use ' Nero CD-DVD Speed ' you need a compatible burner , sure your current burner may work but not give accurate results. I have been coached by a member of Club MyCE forums he was fantastic , i managed to find locally a specific Liteon burner and bought 4 for $29.95 each.

Not only does it give accurate results it burns beautifully..............

i have 2 installed and 2 still in box , 1 is just for Dreamcast and the other for Gamecube/Sega Saturn/PS1.

why 1 just for Dreamcast ? .......with my Liteon's you can tune them for certain types of stuff your going to burn and i found you cant have all consoles for one burner.

i have done tests to back this up.............

also if you have a great burner use great media such as Taiyo Yuden

in my opinion if you want to learn more go to Club MyCE forums and ask questions on what burner to buy not all are the same , its like saying a car is a car..........and a Ferrari and Ford are the same.

below is one of my ' scans ' for your enjoyment...........

Sega Saturn game burnt at X16 and on Taiyo Yuden
