Have you heard of SingStar? If I had a "better" voice I'd probably get that. All I'm saying there are more genres than rock. And more instruments.. But I imagine it being harder to make a plastic piano or saxophone.

Just like the Nintendo DS, the Wii is filled with software that isn't classified as video games. It might be better to see it in a broader scope of interactive software, rather than a video game.
It's a bit off topic but I saw a video of that Ninja Gaiden game on the DS and I couldn't stand it. Playing Ninja Gaiden by drawing on the screen with a pen? That's just damn wrong. I'm cool with the whole touch screen thing, but not for games like that. This is why I like my PSP. I'm not really into gimmicky controls for traditional, old school games, but I'd like to get a DS for games like Castlevania:Order of Ecclesia

You know Ninja Gaiden would have kicked ass as a PSP game, but I hear Itagaki hates the thing which is ironic given that he has stated that he only wants to make games for the most powerful systems. That guy makes no sense to me

The Wii is losing my interest. There's some good games on it, but it seems like its future is bleak if Nintendo has no interest in promoting REAL games for it. Is Wii music and Rayman Raving whatever all there is to look forward to?

Funny thing is I like NG on the DS and absolutey detest Zelda! And they both use stylus control..But NG was more of a technical achievement than a real classic for me. You can't really blame Itagaki for trying something new. However his tendencies to harass women is another matter

As for the Wii I was hoping it would bring about much needed change for the industry but all it did was disappoint (mostly). Some optimists say that when the public gets fed up of all the shovelware and "demand" for innovative games strengthens the industry will seriously reconsider the silly position it has put itself in i.e. catering to a dwindling niche market (which leaves many publishers bankrupt because "hardcore" gamers usually don't care to support genuinely innovative titles-e.g. Psychonauts and BG&E) and/or producing shovelware at an alarming rate. Does Nobody else find EA and Activision-blizzard's (or whatever they call themselves) statements that they plan on milking current franchises up to the tenth sequel, a bit worrisome?

A second crash would do this industry much good. As things stand it's not good for many publishers or gamers who demand something more than the yearly updates and rehashes.

You know I've always wanted to see another industry crash. I think it's more out of a sick curiosity than anything else. Hell, I'm a retro-gamer mostly. So it's not like it'd really hurt me much. TONS of great games out there for me to catch up on.

I have to say the advertisement was on the tv about an hour ago - and I just looked over to my wife and said (with a suitably tragic face) 'That is NOT why I love Nintendo...'

Rock Band 2 has Any Way You Want It by Journey (I'm hoping for a three pack as DLC), and Guitar Hero Rock The 80's has I Ran by Seagulls.

Sorry, both late AND off-topic here:

@Gamerforlife, if you ever get a DS, definitely give NG a chance. I absolutely hate motion controls, touch screens, hell I even still think analog sticks are too modern. BUT...Ninja Gaiden on the DS works. It is fluid and intuitive and a crap load of fun. I'm a massive fan of the modern NG games and I thought this might suck...until I started actually playing it.

The only problem is...it is WAY too easy. Playing carefully, I never died once. Still, incredibly enjoyable.

Okay...sorry for being way off-topic. Please resume the discussion of *cough* The Greatest Game of All TIME! *cough*

The game looks alright to me, but it's got more in common with the music bit on mario paint than rockband. I can imagine it being good fun

Also you do know that you don't have to use the touchscreen on a ds?
