Sense it does not make.

LOL
You don't have to read the comments if you don't want to.
But when you do, it's sometimes nice to see what the original comment was someone responds to. Now when you want to see the original comment it opens in a new tab and the whole video starts playing again. Retarded as fuck, and very user-unfriendly.
Come to think of it, it wouldn't surprise me this is another artificial way to up the views on a video to justify higher advertisement rates. Same as those shitsites that use 15 pages to address one subject...

It's that, and it's also about paying video posters less thus making Google more mullah.elmagicochrisg wrote: Come to think of it, it wouldn't surprise me this is another artificial way to up the views on a video to justify higher advertisement rates.
People who say "I don't know how it works, but I post videos and I keep getting checks in the mail" are the ones that are going to feel the biggest impact.

I buy everything I can on Blu Ray, but I still pick up DVDs often for some older TV shows, as often there's not any way to make a proper HD release of them so a Blu Ray in the future is extremely unlikely.RCBH928 wrote: People with Bluray players (ps3's) , why are you still buying DVDs?
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
As a YouTube partner, I agree with the above. I mean, there have been baby steps towards Google+ integration for a while now. Unfortunately, this is how it's gonna be, unless another video streaming site becomes a better option.elmagicochrisg wrote:LOL

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
What I miss is the top two rated comments stickied on each video. There's no point in giving thumbs up or down to comments anymore. Someone can make a great comment and it won't matter if he gets 50 thumbs because his comment will eventually be buried with "go eat a dick u retarded facist homo 420 dank kush blaze it fukkaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and "I leanred how to make $77 an hour from my home computer, you can too at spamalicious.com" comments.

Same. I will usually opt for Blu-ray if available, but not everything is.AppleQueso wrote:I buy everything I can on Blu Ray, but I still pick up DVDs often for some older TV shows, as often there's not any way to make a proper HD release of them so a Blu Ray in the future is extremely unlikely.RCBH928 wrote: People with Bluray players (ps3's) , why are you still buying DVDs?
When U.S. Blu-rays are available...I can only think of reasons I've bought the DVD over them:
Film: I only want the movie to rip and merge with Rifftrax audio.
Video-based source (most TV): Blu-ray upscale/filtering was done badly.
I'd agree though, there's quite a lot of TV based stuff out there (particularly) that holding out for a Blu-ray release on is somewhat pointless. You have the rare cases like the Star Trek shows that get the film elements scanned in, special effects redone, all that, and look spectacular, but those are the exception.

YouTube just keeps getting shittier and shittier. It's unbelievable.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
No, it's not stupid. A little outdated, but certainly not stupid. The traditional view of the librarian is someone who works with books and organizes them, but truth be told it's not about the physical medium, it's the information contained within. Librarians can have many different roles within the context of a particular library or collection they work with, and some may be specialized into a particular faucet of those roles. But a library doesn't necessarily have to contain books at all, and the librarian's purpose is to organize that information, provide accessibility to it, and aid in its requisition.RCBH928 wrote:This might sound stupid, but what is your duty as a librarian? Are you just responsible to organise and manage the library or are you supposed to know every book in there, what is it about, and where is it stored.Nemoide wrote:Geeze how many librarians are there on this forum? (I'm one also.)Ack wrote:I know, but I'm a librarian.
And when you say a library, how big are we talking about? How many books are in there
For instance, a children's librarian will likely have knowledge of(and control over) children's and teen literature, educational and curricular materials, child-raising materials, recreational equipment, as well as databases, periodicals, and other electronic or analog resources based around youth education and development.
Meanwhile, reference librarians will have knowledge and control over reference-based materials and documents, including databases on a variety of topics, catalogs(analog and/or digital) of library materials, almanacs, atlases, bibliographies, and so forth, all based around the location and retrieval of information as per users' needs.
None of the various roles require specific knowledge of every material within a library, though it is required that all known how to locate it and encouraged that all explore it regularly. This exploration, if focused enough, can also lead to specializations within a collection or area, such as a reference librarian who is particularly knowledgeable about mechanical engineering materials.
And then there are the special librarians, who may not work within a traditional library setting at all, such as archivists, law librarians, medical librarians, or even data or metadata analysts and specialists for corporations, nonprofits, charities, government agencies, etc. For instance, I'm an analyst for Turner Broadcasting. My work surrounds the indexing of programming but also the development of tools to further facilitate that indexing. Basically I create standardized information about information and then work on developing tools that will enable the searching of that information to suit the needs of the company.
So yeah, no books in my library. It's all television shows, and as for a specialization, I focus primarily on Cartoon Network programs.
