Actually not at all. The bachelors degree can actually help with a specialization and doesn't require English. Several of the librarians I work with have degrees in other humanities fields, such as History or Art, and I know one of the folks I work with has a Masters in Fine Art, which helped with her archival work. I've known some librarians who had bachelor's degrees in various sciences or even nursing degrees, and there are many librarians who also have law degrees.

The only real academic requirement is some kind of bachelor's degree and then a masters in library studies or some such variation. Mine is a Masters in Library and Information Sciences, though some places only do Masters in Information Sciences as the name now. It depends on the school. They're all considered valid for library work. And it takes about a year and a half on average, though I've known a few people who did it in less time.

This is why I rip my dvds shortly after getting them home. Sadly I do not have the ability or storage space to do the same with blurays.

Huh. Very interesting. I'll definitely be looking more into this. Thanks for the info.

I can't remember the last movie where after the FBI statement I couldn't press "Menu" and get straight to the movie.

Oh well, ten minutes of crap on a dvd beats the forty five minutes of crap you see before a theatrical release.

Maybe they're more on rentals. Because I see them all the time on my Netflix rentals. YOU MUST WATCH OUR PREVIEWS!

At the theater, previews are cool because you see what's coming. By the time the previews are on a DVD, though, you've already seen the previews before and likely even the movie.

I know I have a couple of blu-rays that won't let me skip anything (I'm pretty sure they're Blu-rays...the bastards). But yeah, for the most part the "Top Menu" or "Pop Menu" option on the remote usually works.

I usually use that preview time to procure myself a nice snack before the movie starts.

Yup, those are on there like crazy. Studios make specific "rental-only" versions of movies just for that reason.

Studios want to know what trailers are played with each movie. How they don't already know...I don't know.
