Watched all four Underworld movies over the past few weeks with my girlfriend, who had only seen one or two. I've always been partial to them myself, but I know that they aren't exactly award winning films. If I had to play favorites, I'd say I definitely favor the original, and Rise of the Lycans over Evolution and Awakening. Watched Awakening last night, and remembered why I've only seen it once. It's easily the weakest of the four, and may have been straight to DVD.

Then to keep the Halloween theme going we watched the Conjuring. I normally enjoy most Horror movies that aren't too cheese heavy, so I liked it and thought it had some creative scares. By the end however, I felt that some plot points brought up earlier on in the movie had kind of been dropped.
For example, it's repeatedly made clear that Loraine had a terrible experience with her last exorcism. But you never find out more about it, and it doesn't come into play during the exorcism at the end of the film. I also thought that since the haunted family had a relatively happy ending, and prior to that, it was made clear that Ed and Loraine's daughter was being haunted/possessed by the same witch/demon, that she would end up possessed or dead. Again, they seemed to have dropped that plot development by the time the movie ends.
Regardless, I thought it didn't suffer too badly from a lot of over-used horror cliches, and was overall a good film.

Nightmare before Christmas. It is enjoyable every few years, if only to hear the Cab Callaway like Oogie Boogie. Though I realized that Jacks speaking voice is Prince Humperdink and that made the night fall into bad Princess Bride jokes.

It could also be based on the roles that DiCaprio has chosen over the years. Perhaps he absolutely hated his accent in Blood Diamond or was so disgusted by his role in The Basketball Diaries, like if someone were so shocked by the content of Bad Lieutenant to form a bad impression of Harvey Keitel, despite the strength of his work.
Why would I be disgusted by his role in The BasketBall Diaries... I have not watched that movie, but that is a weird thing to say.
You might not like the drug use and gay sex.

When someone says something like that, I usually say a loud "WHAT?!" followed by "What're you doing tonight?" interrupt whatever they respond with, with "Shh, it's not as important as this."

You should know that early in the dating process. Come on man, that is a rookie mistake.

First date: "What movies do you like?" "What about movies in space?" "Any that you like use the words "The Force" in them?"

Objection, leading the witness!

Trailer for Open Grave for those that like horror/zombies:

Has Sharlto Copley in it, so I'm excited.
