I love long boxes I think I only have like 4-5 in my collection thoughprfsnl_gmr wrote:This afternoon, I purchased a complete "long box" copy of Tecmo World Golf (PS1) from a local video game store for $5. This will not mean much to most of you, but fellow "long box" collectors will understand how happy I am right now.

The BX decided to clearance out half of their PC section, so I got Battlefield 3 for $1.95, Red Orchestra 2 for $3.95, Dishonored for $4.99, and The Orange Box for $7.49. These are all sealed physical versions, mind you. I already owned all of them except Red Orchestra 2 but it was worth it just for the convenience of faster installing.

I also picked up complete copies of PGA Tour Golf (GEN), PGA Tour Golf II (GEN), PGA Tour '96 (GEN), and Jack Nicklaus Power Challenge Golf (GEN) for $2 each. My BoneSnapDeez-inspired golf game collection really got a boost yesterday.

Long boxes were made initially in the US market to take up shelf space and get peoples attention.
But being fragile and bulky was not a wise business choice. Standard CD cases were soon adopted.
The same tactic was used with Sega CD and Saturn. Now its very hard to find any of these long boxes complete and un-broken.
Even the cardboard long boxes are coming apart from the glue after all these years.
Its just an intersting variant that you can collect. Even more so when you find one in perfect condition.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Bought a launch 360 at a garage sale for $2 with the wrong power supply. Decided that it might be worth the risk in case it has a good game inside - L4D2 goes for decent coin on the secondhand market. So I got it home and cleaned it some, plugged it in and its four red lights started blinking. Fair enough, its not plugged into a tv, it might actually work (I did not. But on ejecting the disc drive I found the treasure of all treasures: Martin Season 4, disc 1.
I havent plugged it into a tv yet to see if it actually works. But even if it doesnt, I have a new laser and some fans that will make up the cost.
