i REALLY dug the palms stuff that i heard. very much sounded like isis playing white pony, which i can totally get behind.dunpeal2064 wrote:Deftones are savage.noiseredux wrote:
yup. I fucking love the Deftones. I just found an awesome Deftones shirt last month. And BD is right, their 2012 album was excellent.
Chino, their lead singer, is working on a new project called "Palms" with former members of Isis. I wouldn't say what they have released so far has reached the levels of awesome that Isis and Deftones reached individually, but they still have a nice sound going on. I just hope Chino decides to rough it up a bit on some tracks, with those deep Isis chugs.
Also, Team Sleep is kinda cool, if you want even more Chino stuff.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Exactly! Its like the trippy ambient Isis stuff had a baby with White Pony.
I want to hear what it would sound like if the heavier aspects of Isis met Adreneline in a few tracks though.

Thought I share this with you guys
It's a mix of black metal and power metal. The two sound great mixed together.

Satan's Host does something similar. If I remember correctly, it has one of the early members from Jag Panzer.Sasha_Blue wrote:Thought I share this with you guys

Huh, Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, and Enslaved are doing a tour through Atlanta in January. I love Amon Amarth and Skeletonwitch but haven't ever listened to Enslaved. Any recommendations for which songs or albums to check out?
Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
I like when they started to get weird, so I think I'd go with anything from Mardraum on up. IMO, they're definitely an "album" rather than a "song" band, so keep that in mind.Ack wrote:Huh, Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, and Enslaved are doing a tour through Atlanta in January. Couldn't tell you about RIITTIIR, the last thing I listened to from them was Axioma Ethica Odini. (Good, btw.) But yeah, anything 2000 and later is pretty sweet. I hear Isa gets a lot of love.Ack wrote:So basically check out anything from 2000 and later? Unsurprisingly I think their older black metal albums are the best:Ack wrote:Huh, Amon Amarth, Skeletonwitch, and Enslaved are doing a tour through Atlanta in January. Hordanes Land (released as a stand-alone EP and as a split with Emperor)
Vikingligr Veldi
Frost
The Forest Is My Throne / Yggdrasill (split with Satyricon)
Eld
Though I don't know how much of that material they play live anymore.

Re: Metal Heads Assemble!!
Stuff I've been listening to recently...........

Primitive Man - Scorn
Now this is how I like my sludge. Ugly, brutal, negative, and uncompromising. Awesome band name too.

Mütiilation - Vampires of Black Imperial Blood
Classic second wave black metal from France. Loving the archaic and otherworldly vibe from this one.

Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium
Seminal doom metal from the UK, on Earache Records. I just wish that they had continued playing this style of music instead of turning into a lame stoner rock band.
