Damn it gets confusing dealing with music, who influenced who, what fits into what genres...

Who influenced who can be interesting, but I don't spend much time trying to decide which genre something belongs to. Classifying music is useful for talking about it with others, but it doesn't matter what someone would call it when you're listening.

I think its really weird seeing how everybody gets influenced. Sabbath influencing all of the stoner rock, and the stoner rock influencing stoner metal both seem interesting to me. The relations between early rock, country, blues, and rockabilly in the U.S. is also really interesting.

I also find it interesting when music is influenced by things besides other music, like when metal bands are influenced by Sword and Sorcery fiction, or when a band is influenced by the themes and ideals of movies. Cool stuff.
