Like I said, I played them back to back and I personally felt like DKC2 was a bit tougher compared to DKCR. The challenge did add to the game. If it was a cakewalk, then the game would probably have the same sort've backlash the NSMB series gets from some people. I think they're all fun though. Except I haven't played 3 so I haven't any opinion on that one.Gamerforlife wrote:Yeah, the original trilogy wasn't shallow. They had good level design and some nice gameplay variety.
I don't know about DKC2 being hard. I never had trouble with it, and I've beaten it with all secrets found and I didn't use a guide or faq to do it. I just found the SNES games fun to play. DKCR just wasn't. It felt more concerned with being hard than fun. Challenge is good when it adds to a game rather than detract from it.

Oddly enough I haven't played 3 either. I heard it got mixed reactions from peopleCavZee wrote:Like I said, I played them back to back and I personally felt like DKC2 was a bit tougher compared to DKCR. The challenge did add to the game. Theres nothing wrong with 3, I think a lot of its hate was a "more of the same" kinda thing. Kinda like how there's nothing wrong with Uncharted 3 compared to its predecessors.

After two and a half years of owning my 3DS, I finally hit this milestone:

Now I'll start bringing my 3DS XL around instead.

yaay. Guess this pretty much cements its first console position in Japan (again) which means we are going to be getting more games from Japanese publishers

That's good to hear. Even if the Wii U ends up being another Gamecube, as long as the 3DS can act as the GBA things will be fine.ZeroAX wrote:http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... s-in-Japan

Can't decide whether to buy Etrian Odyssey Untold or Rune Factory 4 right now. Luckily EOU has a demo. RF4 does not, but the trailer looked pretty good. And I kinda feel more in the mood for real time combat. Ace Attorney demo is also up. Never played the previous games, but I may at least try the demo.

You have no idea what you're missing. Some of the funniest, most clever and overall best writen games of all time.ZenErik wrote:Ace Attorney demo is also up. Never played the previous games, but I may at least try the demo.
I played the demo and it's really good. They introduced a new mechanic to the court room gameplay (the mood detection thing) and it makes the cross examination more exciting.
I just hope the investigation sections of the game (the parts you explore locations for clues before you go to court) have some new tricks to make them more engaging too. The psyche locks in the original trilogy was a step in the right direction, but I would have hoped to see morem stuff like that.

Well, that's what I've heard. But more importantly, EOU or RF4?

I'd say EOU, but I haven't played a RF past the first one.ZenErik wrote:Well, that's what I've heard. But more importantly, EOU or RF4?
