Speaking of Barbarians, this is Barbarian
Actually, it's a valid reason. You see, the networks here work in such a way as to support each other. Adult Swim makes a ludicrous amount of money, yes. But that money is then used to help boost our less profitable networks and pay the expenses of the other departments which work within our company. For instance, while Adult Swim is profitable, Cartoon Network isn't, so Adult Swim's profits help prop up CTN. And both give money to support the Network Operations division of Turner which makes no money whatsoever. And what does Net Ops do? They put out the feed to the rest of the United States so you can watch your favorite shows, along with controlling the servers of digital information we store containing advertisements, promos, public service announcements, sports games, news clips, etc., to name just a couple of that division's functions.

And as for Adult Swim, why make an expensive show that cuts into this supply of money when you can make a less expensive show which will still pull in the same amount of revenue, leaving you with more profit overall to devote to those other less-profitable divisions of the company?

They should make Cartoon network shows that are good. I like Regular Show, and Adventure time seems well liked... but there really isn't much else on there. Gumball and that Uncle Grandpa or whatever are stupid beyond all reason, and I really don't know of any other new shows on there.

Doom, doom, doomy dooom...

Listening to some Orchid, gettin' purple 'afore homecoming. (Purple is one of our school colors.)

Congratulations, you've discovered the "problem" with CTN. You're...what, 16? Cartoon Network programming is primarily geared at the 5-12 age group, with only a few shows aimed at teenage viewers(which happen to be the programs you specifically named as the ones you like). And while there are other shows that could be popular with the 12-17 age group, said group often times prefers to bypass them in favor of programming they consider more "adult," such as Adult Swim programming. You're unreliable, unlike children and unlike adults, and CTN is already number 1 with children, while Adult Swim is number 1 with adults.

To compound the problem, advertising during children's programming requires much more scrutiny than it does during adult programming per FCC rules(we have several departments devoted to reviewing content just to make sure nothing goes wrong, and mistakes still happen), and these include severe financial consequences. This is why networks don't bother making channels for teenagers: not only are you an unreliable audience, advertising to you is restricted the same way it is for 5-year-olds.

Oh, and if you ever saw the early shorts that Regular Show spawned from, it didn't start life as a show for high schoolers. Trust me.

Then there's the fact that teenagers have the internet. There were more programs aimed at teenagers during the 1990s and early 2000 (not necessarily full blown channels besides MTV though), but nowadays TV is increasingly irrelevant to teenagers when they can view content created by like-minded individuals on the internet, that is less regulated and less "phony"

Well, I just don't see how those shows would even be attractive to a seven year old- its plain nonsense, and is utterly stupid. I just don't get it. Now, I did grow up with a lot of 90's cartoons and such, but then again, even some of those shows are redeemable to a point.

I just see those shows as a mash up of things randomly pulled from the internet thrown together poorly. I know I wouldn't let my kids watch it.

You might think they're dumb and unappealing, but I haven't seen anything in any of those shows that'd make me forbid children from watching it.

It'd suck if I had to grow up only being allowed to watch the things my parents personally approved of.

That's how it was for me- I didn't ever really watch Spongebob, any anime (Pokemon included), or other shows I don't particularly remember until much later. I was around 12 or thirteen the first time I got to see most of it. (I did see Spongebob and Pokemon before, but it wasn't until then I actually got to sit around and watch them.)

My parents thing was partially an avoidance of too much nonsense or what they deemed stupid, and anything they didn't want to watch.

No anime or spongebob, only Samurai Jack? Hmm, I'd say your parents have a pretty good taste  Atleast from what I recall, that show was very stylish and well paced and had no nonsense, but I only ever watched a couple of episodes. I think I have it on my external hard drive though, ought to check it out some time.
It's made by the same guy who animated Korgoth of Barbaria if I recall

Anyone listen to the new Carcass?

I was apprehensive at first about it, thinking it would be really pandering or something, but I went ahead and bought it on a whim today. It is kinda pandering, but it's also actually pretty damn enjoyable and really well done. The mix is a little too "clean" for Carcass I think (but it's Andy Sneap so what do you expect) but other than that I actually really enjoy it.

It's basically sound-wise between Necroticism and Heartwork, probably leaning a tad more towards the latter.

What?! I thought Carcass broke up in the 1990s.
