Wow my day has been brightened by that. Who needs birthday gifts when you get such a masterfully crafted letter such as that!Ack wrote:
Dear professor;
Please allow me to express a simple physics problem which I fear will come true with the full force of Newtonian Law. When I attempted to perform physics lab experiment A, lab partner x endeavored to cause no work (W) to be done by being an oppositional force F1 proportional to my team's positive force F, leading to time t being wasted with the additional affect of energy U being consumed as heat through increased body temperature due to anger. If steps are not taken to prevent lab partner x, further t and U will be wasted, leading to lab experiments B-D remaining unfinished and with no W shown, resulting in a grade of 'F' for me and my fellow lab partners.
Please find a way to counterbalance F1, professor.
Sincerely,
BogusMeatFactory

Yeah, and it's Hobie that Popo talks bad about, all because he dislikes one game.Hobie-wan wrote:Nono, that's Popo.Stark wrote:Ack is my new hero. I don't care what Hobie says about him.

@BogusMeatFactory
You're a "non-traditional" (ie: older) college student like me, right?
Always an interesting experience.

yeah I am turning 30. I haven't really had any negative experiences with the younger people. Aside from my balding head, people think I am a lot younger. Those that do know tend to be really nice and friendly. There are a few though that really like to get under your skin intentionally as if I was some kind of authority figure.BoneSnapDeez wrote:@BogusMeatFactory

Also... it is really strange to watch the video game club play their PS3s in the cafeteria. They honestly believe that Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is the best fighting game ever. Kids these days.

I get along better with the 18 year old kids than the 50 year old dudes who try way too hard to get all chummy with the professor because they're the same age.

Oh god, this is so annoying. I'm pretty sure I'm at an awkward age inbetween you guys but a bit older than the 18 year olds, so I can almost relate. But the guys that are way older than me and act like you are saying are so embarrassing/annoying.BoneSnapDeez wrote:the 50 year old dudes who try way too hard to get all chummy with the professor because they're the same age.

I actually have a kid who is 18 in the class who behaves like that. I don't have a fear with talking with the teacher, asking questions and interacting in the class, but I by no means try to personalize with the teachers...it is their job to teach, not be friends.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I get along better with the 18 year old kids than the 50 year old dudes who try way too hard to get all chummy with the professor because they're the same age.
It is like trying to personalize with a stripper.

I prefer it when my students try to get chummy with me, especially when they have a real, vested interest in the material.
