:D - Scheduled a job interview at several restaurants. Some would put my cooking skills to the test, others...will not. But they all pay!

:( - Pressure from all sides to cut my hair. A manager at a previous interview basically dismissed me after three seconds because of it. My appearance isn't a big deal to me, although I always make sure I'm clean and dressed well and basically decent. I'm not handsome, but I look fine and take good care of myself. I will ponytail or hair net and will not get hair in anyone's food. I get that "this is the way it is."

I think the reason I'm so reluctant is that I wanted to do honest work without having to kiss anyone's ass or stab anyone's back. I'm far more bothered than the idea of the entire world demanding I cut my hair than actually doing it.

The receipts might still say Funcoland as well. Some older locations still have the original name (Funcoland or EB) on the lease so they continue to use the "official" name of the business here and there.

I think that might just be in your area because I've shopped at GS in both Northern and Southern California and never seen that before. I wish they'd just their name to Funcoland.

This has been pissing me off for a while now but now it's gotten to the point where I'm just sick of it.

Youtubers who brag about how everyone gives them shit or how when you ask them how they get their stuff they give you the basic "Check Craigslist, yard sales, thrift stores and pawn shops" yeah...i'm not a moron...I'v all ready checked those places thats why i'm asking for help!

For instance...I like his videos but MetalJesusRocks? Every single pick up video has in it "so and so donated this huge stack of games!" Why can't I get a cut of that action?! I mean hell I don't even have a 1/18th of his collection. And I'll never get to that point if he and every other collector in the Seattle area keep snatching up games.

How the hell does he find the stuff he says he gets at thrift stores? I'v been to all the ones around me and I NEVER find that stuff. I find sports games...that's it. Once I found a bin of over priced SNES carts...but they were ebay price or higher so I wasn't going to get them.

It just pisses me off to no end that I can't find shit while everyone else lucks out.

It's a matter of a bit of luck, being in the right place at the right time, knowing where and how to look, how to spot places that are going to be a waste of time vs places that could yield potential finds, etc. Just something you kinda gotta get a feel for. Yeah, there's competition, but keep in mind that all those people you're complaining about? They have to face that competition too.

As for the collection donations, well, maybe if you run a successful and popular youtube channel you'll have fans donating stuff to you as well. Scripting, shooting, and editing a whole series of videos is actually a ton of work, too.

I don't know if they are actually supposed to do this, but at one of the Goodwill locations in my area, I asked if they had any older video game items. The person actually goes in the receiving area to check. I've done this two times, but both times I didn't get anything. I didn't know that they could check the back though. It's worth an ask.

Also, put ads out on craigslist saying that you are looking to buy things. I live in a big city, and when Jinx and I put our add out we got a few bites. One guy had a massive N64 collection that his wife got sick of and we got a few good things from that pick.

I know it's annoying that they make it sound so easy, but the finds do happen. The more time a dedication you put in, the better the chances are. Also, make your intent known and strike up a conversation with the employees of the thrift stores. When something comes in, it might make them think of you and an almost guaranteed sale, and they might set it aside.

Good luck with your search. I hope you find that gem soon.

Oh yes, this too. Make it known you're a collector, talk to people who work at thrift stores, flat out ask people at garage sales if they have games, etc. Tell your co-workers, friends, family. Get to know these guys, sometimes they'll help you out.
